Going for Gold!

Posted on

Today is Monday which means it’s Mojo Monday time, ready? Here is the sketch…

Mojo 340 SketchAnd here is my take on the sketch which certainly didn’t take me all week to find inspiration for this one. I was out of the starting blocks and running with it in no time at all thanks to the Washi Tape! My card base is Very Vanilla Cardstock with a layer of Primrose Petals Cardstock under the Gold Foil embossed with the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder.

Mojo 340 - Going for Gold - JIFThe gold Washi Tape or as it’s referred to in the Celebrate the Everyday Catty, Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape, was my inspiration for this card. The tape was taken with me to the crop hoping to finally use it, which I didn’t, but as soon as I saw today’s sketch I knew it could be used! Onto a piece of Vanilla Cardstock I arranged and rearranged the Washi Tape finishing it with a piece of Primrose Petals 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon.Mojo 340 - Going for Gold - Washi Tape -JIF

The 1¾” circle is Champagne Glimmer Paper, the 1¼” circle is Gingham Garden DSP, and the 1″ circle was punched from Primrose Petals Cardstock then stamped in Gold Metallic Encore with a stamp from the A Round Array Stamp Set. The banner, also in Primrose Petals Cardstock was sponged and stamped also in Gold Metallic Encore with a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set. A sentiment from the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set was heat embossed in gold.

FYI: The end of next month (May) will see the retirement of the 2012-2014 In-Colors of Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple (favorites of mine for Christmas, just sayin’), Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse and Primrose Petals. I know a few of you have already begun stocking piling these colors but it’s best to do this sooner rather than later, particularly if you require Ink Refills for your inks!

Happy New Year!

Posted on

Oh. My. Gosh. I know it gets busy leading up to, and over Christmas and New Year’s, but seriously, given how we’d planned something fairly “low-key”, I wasn’t expecting time to whiz by as it did. So here I am, almost the END of January, and I’m only now saying… Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I do so hope you had a wonderful time however you may have celebrated 😉

Now back to creating… it’s Monday which means… MOJO MONDAY! This week the ladies are trying something different over at the MOJO blog with the card shape – this week its tall and skinny like me, so NOT! This is it…

Mojo Monday Sketch 330This is my take on the card using some of the wonderful new products from the Spring Catalog, along with a couple from Sale-a-Bration which commences in just a few short hours!

Mojo Monday 330 - Thank You TallinnMy card size is 3.5″x5.5″ and is a flip top for a change. The base of my card is Naturals Ivory. Onto this I’ve used some beautiful Sweet Sorbet DSP and run a piece of Naturals Ivory through with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, both of which can be yours FREE with every $60 you spend through until March 31 courtesy of Sale-a-Bration 2014!

Mojo330 - On-Film Framelits Die - JIFThen as I’ve made this card as a thank you to the couple who moved into our house to look after the cats and kids whilst Hubby and I were away a couple of weeks ago, from the Spring Catalog I’ve used one of the dies from the On Film set in Early Espresso to aptly frame a photo I took whilst in Tallinn.

This is layered on top of a strip of Crumb Cake that I’ve stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge again in Early Espresso. The ribbon is the beautiful 1/2″ Seam Binding in Daffodil Delight to pick up the subtle yellow in the DSP.

Mojo330 - Essentials Wooden Elements - JIFAs an embellishment I’ve stamped directly onto one of the Essentials Wooden Elements from the Spring Catalog with Early Espresso Classic Ink, sponging the edges with both the Pistachio Pudding and Baked Brown Sugar, adhering it with some Sticky Strip. Talking of sponging, I also sponged the edges of the DSP and embossed strip before adhering it to the base.

CARD RECIPE
Cardstock: Naturals Ivory, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake

Classic Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Early Espresso

Happy with my scraps!

Posted on

Yes, I do realize that might sound a trifle odd but if you are able to have somewhere to keep all your cardstock and DSP off-cuts, and also your “bits” of ribbon it’s well worth it. To cut into a full sheet of cardstock when all is required is a “bit”, well, it can bring tears to one’s eyes hence I keep everything as you never know!

Which brings me to this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.

Mojo320 Sketch

This is my take on the sketch. The base of Whisper White has been layered with Always Artichoke which I’ve randomly stamped in Always Artichoke Classic Ink a stamp from the set A Round Array this then has the smallest frame of silver foil. A scrap of Silver Glimmer Paper was added, followed by a collection of ribbons and a framed sentiment.

Mojo320Sketch - Naughty or Nice - Always Artichoke - Ribbon Scraps - JIF

What I’ve done is with the help of some sticky strip, have stuck all my scraps of red ribbon onto a scrap of cardstock. Yes, even the cardstock is a scrap as it was the cardstock in with the pack of dimensionals that were just finished. Waste not want not!

The sentiment seemed to take on a life of its own as first off I simply embossed it in silver powder before punching it out with the Decorative Label Punch but I couldn’t stop there! I then embossed a second one to punch out the oval sentiment then adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. As it then happened I had some retired SU Decorative Labels sitting on my desk which framed the sentiment perfectly and voila!

Last minute birthday!

Posted on

Yes, there’s nothing quite like a last-minute birthday party announcement. I fear Master Eleven was in-fact advised of this event earlier in the week but decided to only advise me only the day prior, at which point he wasn’t interested so the said information was immediately released from my advice-vault. What can I say, if it doesn’t involve me I say… “catch and release“!

Anyways, that was the “day before” wasn’t it? The day of the event at 3pm it was decided he’d go for the intended start time of 6pm but only stay until 10pm at which time I would be required to collect him. Fine… one last-minute card and gift coming up… grrrr, children, grrrr 🙂 This is what eventuated and fortunately, I promised myself at the time that next month, next week, I would leave this particular DSP alone and I now I have!

Anyways… for a last-minute card I think I did okay don’t you?!

Shapes and Numbers

I tell you, I’m lovin’ this new hexagon punch, so much so I’ve now gone through the new Annual Catalog and found every matching stamp-set and ordered them… yikes! As this hexagon stamp felt a tad girlie I used another stamp and punch to cover some of the sentiment for a more masculine feel.

Shapes and Numbers - Sentiment

And for the “you” I made a letter “U” from the XL and L Oval stamps, added Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered over the top of some of the fabulous Washi Tape which just happened to have a HEXAGON pattern on it, yea baby!
