Words Create a Background!

The Dictionary Background Stamp would have to be a favorite of mine. Yes, I am aware I say that a lot but I’m fairly certain I don’t say that about EVERY stamp, lol!

Using the Dictionary Background Stamp and the new Blendabilities I had a lot of fun with the next three cards.

Dictionary - Just for You - JIF

This next card is background on background with the beautiful Pleasant Poppies Stamp. The border of the Blackberry Bliss Cardstock came about by accident. I cut out a Top Note Die Cut leaving this wonderful negative space which I almost threw out but something stopped me. So glad I kept it! 🙂

For this next card I used my Aqua Painters instead of the Blendabilities for a much lighter effect. The card I CASE’d from the Annual Catalog using the Flower Shop Stamp Set with coordinating Pansy Punch.

Dictionary - Pansies - JIF

Doesn’t the Linen Thread give a subtle yet beautiful finish to the last two cards?! I also trialed the new Gold Pen on this card, noice!

I’m placing orders tonight so if there’s anything you require please let me know today and I’ll add yours and fingers-crossed we’ll have them here by the end of next week!

Flowering Flourishes in the Garden!

You know it’s Monday when you see one of the wonderful sketches from Mojo Monday appearing in your in-box. This is today’s sketch..

Mojo 336 - what will YOUR card look like?

For something a little different this week I went with a square card – this is it.

Mojo 336 - Flowering Flourishes in the Garden - JIF

This piece of DSP had been sitting on my table all week so decided today would be the perfect opportunity to utilize it. My base card was Very Vanilla Cardstock, onto this went Early Espresso Cardstock which had been stamped with Flowering Flourishes in Versamark then sponged in Early Espresso Classic Ink.  The Soho Subway DSP edges were sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink before lengths of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim was added then adhered to the Early Espresso Cardstock.

Instead of two circles I chose to do one of the Deco Labels Framelits in Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock which I sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink. To this I added a 2-¾” Circle cut from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto this I stamped-off one of the Flowering Flourishes stamps in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. The sentiment from Sassy Salutations was stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink and in hindsight should have been placed more to the top instead of being centered. Oh well. At the time though I wasn’t going to add flowers!

From the Secret Garden Framelits in Pistachio Pudding Core’dinations four stems of leaves were cut and sponged VERY lightly with Crumb Cake Classic Ink. Onto this was added a single Flower Shop stamp in Crumb Cake Classic Ink onto Crumb Cake Cardstock then punched with the Pansy Punch. A Large Pearl Basic Jewel was added to the center of the flower.

Time for a Thinlit!

Posted on

That doesn’t sound good does it? Sounds like I’m about to sneak behind the back of the tank-stand for a ciggie doesn’t it, lol? What I’m trying to say is that I’ve had my Thinlit Card Frames out today playing with the longer card lengths. These are a couple of the cards I did when I first received the Thinlits.

Card Frames - Exactly as isThese are the cards as per the Thinlits – the original cardstock size is 6¼” x 5½” – then has an inch fold just off the left-hand center line. For me, the only thing missing was somewhere to write on the card.

That was until I was shown an alternative that takes the card from still looking the same…

Card Frame - Hi - Full FrontYet when it’s opened it’s just so much bigger… yeah baby!

Card Frame - Hi - Full InsideThe right-hand side folds over on top of the other side where the DSP would normally go thus allowing an area to write a little something for the recipient. Problem solved – YEA!

Having spent what seemed like hours working on the above card as the colors are TOTALLY out of my comfort zone – So Saffron and Tangerine Tango both of which are on a sheet of the Watercolor Wonder DSP – I rewarded myself with something more familiar to me… PINK!

Card Frame - Flowers - Full FrontThe black and white of the Modern Medley DSP with the pink of the Strawberry Slush Cardstock compliment each other so very well. Plus it gave me an opportunity to test-drive a flower from both the Petite Petals Stamp Set and from the Flower Shop Stamp Set.

Both of these sets I LOVE so I’ll give you the heads-up right now – you’re going to see a LOT more of them! 🙂 Layering them and adding a rhinestone only added to this new love affair.

Card Frame - Flowers - Pretty Petitees

This is the inside of the card.

This second card was NOTHING like I set out to achieve but the end result far exceeded anything I’d planned. Sometimes you can get lucky!

Don’t forget, there’s just over three weeks left on this year’s Sale-a-Bration so if your stocks require replenishing, now really is a good time to do it as with every $60 you spend, you get free product. Contact me now with your order!
