Fast Flourishes!!!

Posted on

This would HAVE to be hands-down one of the fastest cards I have made in a long LONG time but also one of the prettiest using a stamp from the Flowering Flourishes Stamp Set. Wouldn’t you agree?

Flowering Flourishes - Purple Frame - JIF Elegant Eggplant Cardstock has been used for the layer under the Whisper White Cardstock base onto which I stamped in Old Olive Classic Ink just the one stamp from Flowering Flourishes.

The small flowers are from just one of the fabulous “bundle & save” options currently available in Celebrating the Everyday Catty.  By purchasing the bundle consisting of the Petite Petals Stamp Set and the Petite Petals Punch you immediately save 15% and are secure in the knowledge you have a co-ordinating set. Too easy!

When stamping the flowers I would normally ink the stamp extraordinarily well then stamp it three times without re-inking the stamp, thus creating a monochromatic effect. On this occasion however I wasn’t myself and stamped in three different colors – Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, and Wisteria Wonder!

My original plan was to add Basic Pearls on all the “dots” of the flourish but once I’d added the flowers complete with a Basic Rhinestone in their centers the idea seemed mute. Perhaps next time?

Flowering Flourishes in the Garden!

You know it’s Monday when you see one of the wonderful sketches from Mojo Monday appearing in your in-box. This is today’s sketch..

Mojo 336 - what will YOUR card look like?

For something a little different this week I went with a square card – this is it.

Mojo 336 - Flowering Flourishes in the Garden - JIF

This piece of DSP had been sitting on my table all week so decided today would be the perfect opportunity to utilize it. My base card was Very Vanilla Cardstock, onto this went Early Espresso Cardstock which had been stamped with Flowering Flourishes in Versamark then sponged in Early Espresso Classic Ink.  The Soho Subway DSP edges were sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink before lengths of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim was added then adhered to the Early Espresso Cardstock.

Instead of two circles I chose to do one of the Deco Labels Framelits in Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock which I sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink. To this I added a 2-¾” Circle cut from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto this I stamped-off one of the Flowering Flourishes stamps in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. The sentiment from Sassy Salutations was stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink and in hindsight should have been placed more to the top instead of being centered. Oh well. At the time though I wasn’t going to add flowers!

From the Secret Garden Framelits in Pistachio Pudding Core’dinations four stems of leaves were cut and sponged VERY lightly with Crumb Cake Classic Ink. Onto this was added a single Flower Shop stamp in Crumb Cake Classic Ink onto Crumb Cake Cardstock then punched with the Pansy Punch. A Large Pearl Basic Jewel was added to the center of the flower.

I was SOOOOO close!!!

Posted on

Wow, I was this close, this close to having this card completed and posted last night until I remembered why I didn’t use the glue I had used last night very much anymore, choosing instead to always use sticky strip. It was of course the drying time, ugh! It all came back to me like a charging bull. 🙁

Anyways, one thing has led to another and here it is, NOT even first thing this morning rather late at night but regardless, here I am finally posting it. The basis of my card is this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch 323.

Mojo 323 Sketch

This is my card but I should warn you first not EVERYTHING is Stampin’ Up! PLUS I’ve utilized a couple of retired DSPs. On this occasion I’ve gone with the “feel”, not the product so I hope you can forgive me. (And it’s for my mother’s birthday next month!)

Mojo323 - JIF - Happy Birthday Enjoy!

The striped paper I’ve used is from last year’s SU Regals Designer Series Paper Stack which I’ve stamped Flowering Flourishes in that wonderful Illuminate Ink, both from this year’s Annual Catalog. Then I’ve replaced the thread over the DSP shown on the Mojo Sketch with strings of pearls sprouting from either end of the labels which have had the edges sponged in Crumb Cake.

Both of these labels have been cut from the same sized frame-lit, the difference being the Pink Pirouette cardstock was then cut in half so there would be a little showing on either end with the pointed middles snipped off.

The flowers were bought months and months ago from the local Dollar Store, and the light-bulb, well… that was the result of some late night shopping following a scrapbooking crop… need I say more. 🙂Mojo323 - JIF - Enjoy

Of course it’s only now as I look at the card I realize the weight I’ve put in it isn’t the best for posting, lol!
