Sweet Stuff for my birthday!

Posted on

How cute is the new Sweet Stuff Stamp Set (page 87)? and since I’m just “so sweet“, how appropriate to use this stamp set on my birthday, tee hee! 🙂

Here is MY card to ME, remembering my glory days of a six-year-old ballerina. Ah yes, good times, good times!

Sweet Stuff - Happy Birthday Cutie - JIF

When I see “bee happy” sadly I HAVE to do the obvious…

Sweet Stuff - Bee Happy - JIF

This next card was one of those cards that kept on giving. Initially it was just the center piece. Well, that seemed awfully dull so out came some Lullaby DSP which naturally required a border. The sentiment seemed lifeless so the bird flew in. Both it and the ice-creams were colored using Blendabilities. I did attempt coloring the sentiment with them also but the Pistachio Pudding Marker was what was needed.

Sweet Stuff - Ice Cream Cones - JIF

After the ice-creams were adhered I decided to use some Dazzling Details on them. Then seeing that had a matte finish when dried rather than a gloss I added some Liquid Crystal. The Pistachio Pudding Cardstock then seemed lifeless so with the heart from the Project Life Point & Click Stamp Set, I randomly stamped in Pistachio Pudding over it.

Sweet Stuff - Dazzling Detailed Ice Creams - JIFCARD RECIPES

So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding

Now, as the children would say – BRING ON THE PRESSIES – what’s that saying? We all get older, it’s the growing-up part which is optional, lol 🙂

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!

Elegant Eleanor!

Needing to give myself some “structure” when it comes to creating cards, I’m thinking of “theoretically” making Tuesday – Framelits Tuesday. Particularly as there are so many FABULOUS dies in this year’s SU Annual Catalog. Ha ha, and now that I look at my first card I’d obviously forgotten my great idea hence the word “theoretically”!

Anyhoo, the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set is one I have been wanting to use for the longest time so this week I made it my mission to use it. The natural combination for this set was the new Big News Stamp Set, which by the way only comes in Photopolymer. Photopolymer gives you WAY more bang for your buck let me tell you!

I’m not sure if it was the stamp set or the mood I was in but I was creating much more in my old style. THIS I have to say was a nice feeling as sometimes I fear my cards can be a tad flat but NOT today. Here is my first card.

Everything Eleanor - Seam Binding Ribbon - JIF

This was a perfect opportunity to use the beautiful Gold Sequin Trim and new Venetian Crochet Trim – both equally delightful. As well as THREE of the beautiful 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbons – Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Wisteria Wonder. Oh so subtly, I’ve used a another stamp set, Summer Silhouettes to create the small flowers on the left-hand side.

Everything Eleanor - Seam Binding Ribbon - CLOSEUP - JIF

The next card I CASE’d from the Annual Catalog (p.69) as I loved the general composition of the card. Naturally I changed the colors, the type of doily, and the ribbon. Also using some Washi Tape on Whisper White Cardstock for stronger color and stamped on the doily, but apart from that it’s just the same, lol. 🙂 Sometimes all that’s required is a starting point!

Everything Eleanor - Knew You Could - JIF

Fussy-cutting the flowers can be a tad tedious but is well worth the trouble. Plus this style of card was ideal for using the Basic Pearls.

Sunshine on Circle Chicks!

Posted on

When I first opened the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set, I couldn’t see the sun, instead all I could see where chickens! Sadly though when I attempted to create what I saw in my mind, it simply didn’t happen. That was until I remembered the Circle Thinlets.

This was my “Ah-Ha” Moment. Once I had my base-card the rest fell into place quickly. I even used some of the Lullaby DSP (which is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous) rather than a DSP stack I’ve fallen into the habit of grabbing.

Ray of Sunshine - New Ray of Sunshine - Closed - JIFGold Foil Paper has been used on the beaks, wings and post of the “Woo Hoo” banner from the Big News Stamp Set. I stamped the curved “sun-ray/shark-fin” onto the back of a scrap of Gold Foil Paper then cut it out to use as a wing on my Mama Bird and Baby Bird. Obviously both the wing and beak have been cut down CONSIDERABLY for Baby Bird.

It’s only now that I realize that I didn’t sponge ANY of the circles, oops, next time! Inside the card looks like this. The tiny-tiny heart is from the Owl Builder Punch.

Ray of Sunshine Mojo!

Posted on

Inspiration came slowly for this week’s Mojo Monday. Several backgrounds were created until I settled on a DSP from the All Abloom DSP Stack and voila. This is my interpretation of this week’s sketch.

Mojo355 - All Abloom Sunshine - JIF

And here is the Mojo Monday’s Sketch 355.

mojo355It’s incredible how much the background “creates” the card as such. In this background there are so many colors to work with and then some. Island Indigo ended up being my “anchoring” color, using it on my right-hand strip and for the banner which I’ve inked in with a Gorgeous Grunge stamp. I’ve also used some of those stamps on the right-hand strip and over the sun also.

Mojo355 - All Abloom Sunshine - Banners and Leaves - JIFThe leaves were from the wonderful new Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die-Cut with Crumb Cake Cardstock. The sun was created with a Circle Framelit, the Triangle Punch in Hello Honey Cardstock and the circle template from the Essentials Paper Piercing Mat. The beautiful sentiment is from the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set.

How much do YOU know?!

Posted on

What I know is that I have spent an ENTIRE afternoon doing what should have been a very QUICK card using scraps, only to complete the card using NOTHING of which I began with.

It did however use the Friends Who Know Stamp which I’ve been meaning to use so that at least was something, lol! For the colored chalk effect I chose to use the Blendabilities so that when I went outside the lines, it wouldn’t leave a darker shade as markers can sometimes do. This is my card.

We'll be friends - All Abloom - JIF
CARD RECIPE

Cardstock: Whisper White, Rose Red, Pistachio Pudding
Stamp Set: Friends Who Know
Ink: Memento
Blendabilities: Melon Mambo, Old Olive
DSP: All Abloom Stack
Framelits: Labels Collection
Embellishments: Basic Rhinestone Jewels
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Big Shot, Magnetic Platform,
Stampin’ Scrub & Mist, Sticky Strip, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Weather reports have it being a very WET week-end, perfect incentive for a little creating wouldn’t you say?! May you have a wonderful time however you choose to spend the week-end!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!
