What a week-end!

Posted on

After the way I was feeling Friday I wasn’t expecting much from the week-end but hubby was ready to rock n roll in the garage so down to the garage we went after lunch Saturday and WOW we now have a children’s play room… and I can’t walk thanks to a bad back but hey… it’s all about give and take isn’t it!?

Now, I promised a picture of a couple of workshop “Make and Takes” weeks ago so here ’tis…

This is the cute little box with matching tag I was making with the “Always” set in my favourite colours Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant on Very Vanilla. And  below is the matching card.

Time flies when you start creating…

it never fails to amaze me how quickly the time between 9am and 3pm goes! Especially when you are racing the clock with a pending birthday party this week-end. Yes… I thought I was all organised with the Girl Child’s birthday present because I’d bought it weeks ago.

I may have bought it weeks ago but it was by pure chance that Boy Child came down the night before last looking for something very similar which prompted me to think of the one I’d bought for Sunday. Thank goodness, as there is just the one minor detail with it… I HAD TO DECORATE IT... OMG!!!

Needless to say yesterday and today have been operation GET BOOK COVERED. This is what I think could be the end result…

Fortunately I managed to die-cut all my letters on my Big Shot yesterday, then put Crystal Effects onto each one to give them the acrylic look. I also sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over them all whilst they were setting just to give them a little more ompf. If I’d had a tad more time I would have made a point of lining up the letters  when I stuck them to the cover a little better but it is what it is now. And I think Miss Six, who will then be Miss Seven, will still enjoy it just as it is.

I’ve even managed a box for it with matching DSP stuck onto card-stock to give it some extra strength then lined it with some of the shredded tissue I had left over from the Easter Basket that was my April’s “Off the Page” class. Today I made my first acetate lid. I’ve never done more then use acetate as paint trays in the past so this was WAY out of my comfort zone. It took three goes until I had something I was happy with and strangely enough, the two “rejects” fitted together neatly to make a clear box… spooky!

But as I look at the clock I see something very familiar to me, any my poor family… I’M LATE… best run!

Conditions are looking perfect…

Posted on

it’s a long week-end, hubby is home and keen for some one-on-one time with the children, and the pumpkin soup is simmering on the stove-top… so yep… conditions are perfect to pop George into the DVD player, plug the lap-top in beside the bed, fill the coffee pot up… and blog. Actually, one could say the conditions are idyllic in fact!

Well, yesterday was a big day… given it was the last day of April I thought it well and truly time to give the children’s teachers and the lovely ladies in the school office their Easter gifts. Yes, yes, I know, Easter was more then a few weeks ago but with one thing and another (read – one child with ear infection, another with chest infection, and DON’T get me started on the cats as that’s an entirely different story!), sadly time has slipped away from me.

I’m trying to make the most of the Retiring Colours from Stampin’ Up! before they leave us August 31. I know change is always good, eventually, but I can’t deny that I will miss some colours, especially Ruby Red and Almost Amethyst. Like so many things in life I didn’t know how much I liked them until I heard they were retiring hence I may just have to start stocking up on them. Don’t forget to let me know if you would like me to add some of the retiring card stock to my order for you. But enough rambling, here ’tis…

All products are Stampin’ Up! with the exception of the organza ribbon and obviously the Ferrerro Rocher’s of course! The Card Stock colours I’ve chosen for these shoes were (back to front) Cameo Coral, Barely Banana, Lovely Lilac, Pale Plum, Sage Shadow, and Almost Amethyst (which looks much bluer in this photo for some reason). On each of these I’ve simply used my Illuminated Wheel on the diagonal along with the corresponding Ink Pad. With the left-over card stock I’ve made the flowers on the front, fastened with a large rhinestone brad from the Pretties Kit.

Judging by the reactions of the recipients, and those visiting  my Inkee Fiddlings Studio prior to yesterday, the lateness was irrelevant… my gosh, I’ve even had requests for classes on them so watch this space. Sadly I can’t take all the credit for these as I CASEd the shoe from the lovely Tracey – thank you – and have tweaked it every so slightly. Works well don’t you think?
