You know you’re really, REALLY tired when…

no matter where you stand, what setting you put the camera on, or no matter how many lights you put on you simply you just can’t get the camera to work... then after 15 minutes you realise the lens cap is still on!

And that my dear friend is a fairly good indication how things currently are at our house. I couldn’t tell you how many times of late I’ve stood there of a morning waiting for the shower to get hot only to realise, after what seems half a day, that I haven’t even turned the hot water on – how sad is that!

Anyways, back to some paper-play… this mini-scrapbook was going to be this month’s “Off-the-Page” class but  after much deliberation and soul-searching on my part, I’ve made the executive decision not to have any further classes until next year. There simply isn’t enough time so this will now become February’s “Off-the-Page” class. However I do hope to have a Christmas workshop so please stay tuned!

Now back to the Mini-Scrapbook… this was inspired by the extremely talented Dawn Olchefske. This has been something I’ve wanted to do for such a long time as it’s something I feel could be adapted to anyone’s style. Plus it’s small enough to “pop” into the post to family or friends filled with happy snaps.

And I’m sure after making one or two of these little gems you could even do one a month as a great keepsake (sure would be easier then the 12×12 albums I do for EACH child EACH year… that’s something else I need to complete before year’s end… for both this year and LAST… ugh!). Now bear with me as there are MANY photos to this project…

I’m so pleased that you can see the beautiful new Champagne Shimmer Paint on the Big Shot’s Vintage Wallpaper embossing finishing with an Antique Brad… love it all!

The DSP I’m using throughout this Mini Scrapbook is the delightful Greenhouse Gala which co-ordinates beautifully with the textured Wild Wasabi and Very Vanilla I’m using on each page and the base of Soft Suede.

Maybe, just maybe do you think, I’ve used a tad too much Champagne Shimmer Paint on the Two-Step Bird Punch and the Embosslits Beautiful Wings… I don’t think so but  then again the flash does make it appear that there is a LOT more then there really is 🙂

I’ve been loyal to my beloved Pumpkin Pie for the past 18 months but I have to say, the Tangerine Tango I’ve used on the various sentiments has really grown on me of late. What a shame we don’t celebrate Halloween in this neck of the woods otherwise I could have some reall fun with it 🙁

Careful what you wish for…

On the way home from swimming lessons yesterday we were still chatting about the special screening of  “Despicable Me” we saw on Sunday. It was soooooooo funny that I have all my fingers and toes crossed that it’s out on DVD before Christmas so that Santa will be able to add it to one of the stockings.

This conversation then led onto various other movies we’d seen in the past that we thought were hilarious yet hadn’t seen for ages. The likes of “Mars Attack” is one of our favourites – totally ridiculous but a good hoot. Anyways, with all this talk of movies I said (my mother’s kiss of death) “oh, I really hope it’s a wet week-end so we can pile up all these movies to watch whilst filling up on snacks!”

I thought this a fabulous idea but the scream of horror from Master Nine suggested otherwise. Turns out if it’s raining he and his father can’t play footie in the park. I quickly changed my previous wish to that of lovely blue clear skies but listening to the weather reports on the way to school this afternoon, then watching them after the news this evening… it would appear I wasn’t quick enough with my retraction and that my wish could be coming true… rain all week-end… dang!

Which had me thinking just how I would be using my time this week-end (I really want to lock myself in the Studio as, I feel the need, the need for 6×6’s…) which had me thinking about one of the beautiful new stamp sets from the new catalogue… Sense of Time. I particularly like the two sayings with this set – so very versatile and useful. Plus for just $39.95 this set makes for fabulous value (sorry ROC it’s only comes in Wood Mount though!).

The cogs stamp I really like also as it makes a great background. After stamping the clock face in chocolate chip, I then clear embossed it all. The background was created by drops of ink refills onto a metho soaked piece of felt then splodged over the white gloss card-stock – Polished Stone I do believe they call this effect.

What I love about this technique of Polished Stone is that you just NEVER get two pieces the same no matter how much you try. The button is from my own stash which I’m attempting to “down size” so if you are interested in a bottle please let me know as can I do a deal for you!

Dang this flu season…

Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I absolutely, unequivocally, ADORE winter but I have to say, this winter with the infections the children are bringing home from school, and we seem to average one a week, I’m almost over it… note I said almost!

My darling Master Nine after a week  of coughing still sounds as if he’s a three-pack-a-day boy but at least he looks okay, something I couldn’t say of him last week. At the same time my darling husband is battling much the same combined with wattle allergies, and I have what seems like a stomach flu that is gently waving in the wind – one day it’s here, the next it’s gone, then it’s back, then it’s not… oh to wake up and not feel as if a bus has hit me. It’s always the little things in life isn’t it that you truly appreciate?!

I headed straight down to the Studio as soon as I arrived home after dropping the children at school but wouldn’t you know it, the cats were suffering cabin fever (DON’T ASK…) and boy, were they letting me know! It doesn’t help that the local scrub turkey’s have taken to scratching in our front yard so the cats are beside themselves getting to the front window in the studio to be part of it all.

Which is normally comical but this morning Miss Poppy managed to knock over my cup of coffee. Hmmmmm… so if you thought it was an earthquake you felt them morning just after 9 o’clock it was in fact me. It was only half a cup but it seemed to go EVERYWHERE. I could NOT believe it. And that my friends, pretty much set the pace of the day!

However, I did get a couple of cards made today which is something and this one highlights a Fond Farewell to Colour #15 – Creamy Caramel. This is another card that actually started it life as an A6 but it just wasn’t right so today I extended it to an A5, added a few bits and bobs, and I have to say… I couldn’t be happier!
