I have to ask the question…

Do ALL children sit up crossed-legged on their beds in the middle of the night? Cause my two certainly do – it’s hilarious! And what’s really funny tonight is that I have both my girls, that is Miss Seven and the Fur Ball, on the bed with me and even though both are asleep, they are both doing exactly the same things at the same time!

Initially they were both curled up in balls, then one uncurled and began stretching so then the other began doing the same, both arching their back in their sleep, then back into ball they went before Miss Seven sat up crossed-legged, looking around. I always love how  she looks around yet her eyes never open. It’s quite comical! Anyways

A couple of weeks ago I saw this card on the web and was very keen to CASE it so when the challenge was cast  just a few days later for a sympathy card I seized the moment and this was what I came up with. I thought I was being clever by scanning it but I can see now I wasn’t that clever at all. Anyways

Could someone stop the world please…

just long enough at least for me to catch up. That’s all, as it seems lately that the more I have to do the less I actually do… not that it’s helped having my two little darlings home these past two days for one reason or another.

However tomorrow is a new day: the list has been made, the children have been told no matter WHAT their condition they are at school, the rain looks like stopping (albeit briefly), so hopefully once the grocery shopping is out of the way I will be able to knuckle down and get into life once again, maybe

Anyways… enough of my boohoo blues, here’s a card that lifts my spirits as anything with the Eiffel Tower makes me smile as it always reminds me of the day we spent at the Eiffel Tower when the children were just five and three.

What a fabulous day – we arrived before 8am and didn’t leave until almost 4pm – and that’s NOT because we were queued all that time. In actual fact we were very close to the top of the queue (thanks to it being so overcast and cold), no, we stopped and explored EVERY facet of the Eiffel Tower, ate chocolate crepes for morning tea, admired the view from all 360 degrees before finishing the day off with lunch in the VERY posh restaurant!

Yes, it cost an absolute fortune (especially when my hubby and I thought the champagne was extremely well priced considering where we were – it wasn’t until the bill came that we realised the price wasn’t per bottle but per GLASS… and we’d had four glasses thinking we were getting our monies worth from the bottle – LOL!) but what a story heh?!

CARD RECIPE
Carkstock:
Riding Hood Red
, Brushed Silver, Whisper White
Stamp Set/s:
Artistic Etchings, Perfect Punches
Classic Ink: StazOn Black
Accessories:
Scallop Edge Punch,
XL Oval Punch,
Sticky Strip, SU Dimensionals,
Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder,
Colour Spritzer Tool, Riding Hood Red Stampin’ Write Marker

Given the amount of embossing within the brushed silver, what I’ve endeavoured to do (but can’t really see from this photo) is to attempt to give the Eiffel Tower depth. I’ve achieved this by stamping in black StazOn twice on Whisper White, cutting both out the best I could, sticky one then adding dimensionals to the the next for the layered-full affect.

Another thing the photo hasn’t really shown is the spritzing I’ve done on the card background. You know me, I can’t just have plain cardstock at the back, I have to add a little something 🙂 I’ve also used sticky strip rather then the regular snail on the Brushed Silver simply as I feel with all the embossing it gives the metallic cardstock extra “stay-on” power!

Not tonight darling… I have to blog!

Posted on

A sign of the times I fear when no longer do you need to hold your hand to your head then declare… not tonight darling, I have a headache… these days when my poor darling asks if I’m coming to bed all he hears… no, I’m blogging!

But not these last couple of weeks! Goodness… it feels as if it’s been forever since I’ve blogged... the sign of good school holidays I must confess. Not that we went anywhere or did anything major but we had a blast nevertheless. Plus my “personal assistants” took care of any visitors we may have been having. How you ask?

Well… Miss Seven has taken a liking to listening to any messages on the answering machine we may have. Which is all well and good but unfortunately she then DELETES them. Why? Well, that’s obvious isn’t it, she’s listened to them…  be quiet my rising voice! My sincere apologies to anyone who was wanting to speak with me over the last couple of weeks, it was nothing personal, it’s just hard to get good help these days! 🙂

Even my mobile doesn’t fair much better. I have yet to discover just who is responsible but I know I have messages waiting for me but after a game or five has been played on my phone, strangely any messages that may have been there… aren’t! What’s that mantra again… I love my children, I love my children!

Anyways, the holidays began very well for me with the Stampin’ Up Regionals in Brisbane. Having not gone to Convention in May I was very eager to attend this but alas, my father was scheduled for surgery on the same day so it wasn’t to be. Then with only days to go and registration very much closed, surgery was postponed hence it was suggested “give DS a call, you never know“. I did and surprise,  I was in… a mere 36 hours before doors opening!

Now I needed swaps… along with some of my “Get Well Chicken Soup” cards and my “Elements of Style” water-coloured cards (will NEVER do THAT again the night before swaps!), I decided to do something with Moccona sachets. This is what I came up with… at midnight... so consequently I only did one other which  I  tweaked somewhat  but dang it, I forgot to take a picture of that one didn’t I!

On the acetate I’ve stamped with Black StazOn the mug from the Morning Cup stamp set complete with rising steam. That in itself took a little practise as when I first started stamping it I forgot I was basically stamping  on plastic so would press to hard and the stamp would slide across the acetate (LOL).

I also used a few other new “bits” with this little project. I used the “Thanks” Embosslits Die in Melon Mambo but covered the Thanks with a stamp from the Morning Cup set punched out with the new XL Modern Label (I LOVE IT!). Both ends have been punched with XL Double Petal Card (a punch I have a love/hate relationship with but more about that one another time…). The ribbon is the beautiful new white Organza with a Satin centre… very nice!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!
