Making Spirits Bright

Another fun and versatile stamp set for today’s 2-4-Tuesday is the Making Spirits Bright Stamp Set.

For the first card I used the Brushed Silver Cardstock as the base with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder. Real Read 3/8″ Satin Woven Ribbon adds a little pop against the All is Calm Specialty DSP. Blendabilites, Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Dazzling Diamond Glitter adding the final touch.

The second card is for New Year’s Eve but could easily be substituted for an Anniversary Card or a Valentine’s Day Card. The ribbons and the Dazzling Diamond Glitter adding the final touches.

Tickled Pink Mojo

Posted on

When I first saw this week’s Mojo Monday sketch I was a tad hesitant but on looking at it again today, oh my gosh, it took absolutely NO time at all. This is my card.

Mojo362 - Flamingo Lingo - JIF

This is the sketch.

Mojo 362 SketchFor something different for my background I chose Brushed Silver Cardstock which I embossed with the Decorative Dots Embossed Folder. Then onto my cut Whisper White Cardstock I heat embossed one of the stamps from the Flamingo Lingo Stamp Set.

Over this I sponged Melon Mambo Classic Ink then stamped the flamingo in Melon Mambo Classic Ink onto a banner of Whisper White Cardstock.

After adhering this onto the Melon Mambo background I tied 1/8″ Silver Ribbon and 1/2″ Pink Pirouette Seam Binding Ribbon around the top then added the stamped banner Tickled Pink.

Mirrored Love – Just Sayin’!

Sometimes all we need is a nudge to get going and when it comes to card making what better place to get that nudge than the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog!

That’s what I did for the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set. So often I look at this stamp set and all I see are word bubbles on cartoons so I turned to page 109 for inspiration and a little CASE’n.

My first card was a lot of fun to make as I used a LOT of different elements on it. From the Word Bubble Framelits, the Hearts Collection Framelits, and the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. Then there was the What’s Up Punch and the Heart Punch from the Itty Bitty Accents (IBA) Punch Pack.

As I used the Silver Foil Heart Vellum as the background, where in the catalog gold Washi Tape had been used, I used a stamp from the Tape It Stamp Set in Smoky Slate Classic Ink. A combination of Silver Foil Paper and Brushed Silver Cardstock created the “mirror”.

It was so much easier having a basis for the card I couldn’t help myself but CASE another card from that same page. I really like my interpretation of this card!

Could someone stop the world please…

Posted on

just long enough at least for me to catch up. That’s all, as it seems lately that the more I have to do the less I actually do… not that it’s helped having my two little darlings home these past two days for one reason or another.

However tomorrow is a new day: the list has been made, the children have been told no matter WHAT their condition they are at school, the rain looks like stopping (albeit briefly), so hopefully once the grocery shopping is out of the way I will be able to knuckle down and get into life once again, maybe

Anyways… enough of my boohoo blues, here’s a card that lifts my spirits as anything with the Eiffel Tower makes me smile as it always reminds me of the day we spent at the Eiffel Tower when the children were just five and three.

What a fabulous day – we arrived before 8am and didn’t leave until almost 4pm – and that’s NOT because we were queued all that time. In actual fact we were very close to the top of the queue (thanks to it being so overcast and cold), no, we stopped and explored EVERY facet of the Eiffel Tower, ate chocolate crepes for morning tea, admired the view from all 360 degrees before finishing the day off with lunch in the VERY posh restaurant!

Yes, it cost an absolute fortune (especially when my hubby and I thought the champagne was extremely well priced considering where we were – it wasn’t until the bill came that we realised the price wasn’t per bottle but per GLASS… and we’d had four glasses thinking we were getting our monies worth from the bottle – LOL!) but what a story heh?!

CARD RECIPE
Carkstock:
Riding Hood Red
, Brushed Silver, Whisper White
Stamp Set/s:
Artistic Etchings, Perfect Punches
Classic Ink: StazOn Black
Accessories:
Scallop Edge Punch,
XL Oval Punch,
Sticky Strip, SU Dimensionals,
Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder,
Colour Spritzer Tool, Riding Hood Red Stampin’ Write Marker

Given the amount of embossing within the brushed silver, what I’ve endeavoured to do (but can’t really see from this photo) is to attempt to give the Eiffel Tower depth. I’ve achieved this by stamping in black StazOn twice on Whisper White, cutting both out the best I could, sticky one then adding dimensionals to the the next for the layered-full affect.

Another thing the photo hasn’t really shown is the spritzing I’ve done on the card background. You know me, I can’t just have plain cardstock at the back, I have to add a little something 🙂 I’ve also used sticky strip rather then the regular snail on the Brushed Silver simply as I feel with all the embossing it gives the metallic cardstock extra “stay-on” power!
