Migraine Monday, oops, MOJO MONDAY!

Posted on

Sorry. I woke Friday morning with a throbbing head which is still hurting today. So apart from a doctor’s appointment which was already scheduled for that day, then dropping off Boy Child at a party on Saturday, I’ve pretty much been both PJ and bed bound.

My head is still not 100% but I daresay that has something more to do today with the salmon smoking which took place in our kitchen last night. The salmon tastes divine but the smoke residue still lingering in the air is doing absolutely NOTHING for my head.

Anyways, enough of my pity-party. With Canadian Thanksgiving being celebrated next month this is my card for today’s Mojo Monday sketch.

Mojo361 - Mingle All The Way - JIF

There was just SO MUCH white space on this weeks sketch which didn’t help my head at all. This is the MOJO MONDAY sketch for today. As you can see, not much deviation from the original at ALL today on my part.

Mojo 361 Sketch!

Of late I’ve rediscovered Sahara Sand Cardstock so with this as base I added a pattern from the Trim the Tree DSP Stack in darker tones. Then added a much lighter pattern from the Moonlight DSP Stack. Some Pumpkin Pie Chevron Ribbon completing the base.

For my square on the right I went with a base of Early Espresso Cardstock with Tangelo Twist Cardstock on top of that. First I stamped, also in Tangelo Twist Classic Ink, two of the houses from the Holiday Home Stamp Set, then on top of that stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink a stamp from the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set. Finishing off the square with stamped leaves also from the Holiday Home Stamp Set.

With Thanksgiving in mind, I chose to stamp two of the feathers from the Four Feathers Stamp Set. The larger in Early Espresso Classic Ink on Early Espresso Cardstock, the smaller feather in Soft Suede Classic Ink on Soft Suede Cardstock. I then used the co-ordinating Feathers Framelits Dies to cut them. Sponging both with Crumb Cake Classic Ink before adhering.

Typeset Mojo Monday!

In my defense I would like to point out that my card WAS in fact completed last night for this week’s Mojo Monday challenge but I was too exhausted to post anything last night. I’m awake now though and here is my card…

Mojo356 - Typeset Black and Vanilla - JIF

This is this week’s sketch from Mojo Monday.

Mojo356

Although the actual card base was Whisper White Cardstock, after I chose the DSP from the Typeset Pack, I bordered it with Very Vanilla Cardstock. Both the DSP and cardstock were sponged with Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

Using the Very Vanilla 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon to create a ribbon rosette finished off with a Pearl Basic Jewel in the center. And yes, I am working on the Ribbon Bundles, soon I promise, if only there was more hours in the day. 🙁

Mojo356 - Typeset Black and Vanilla - Pearl Flower - JIF

For the ruching across the card I used some of the beautiful new Very Vanilla 5/8″ Satin Ribbon – I am SO glad this is part of Stampin’ Up’s! ribbon selection now as it’s so wonderful to work with.

Project Life Mojo!

Yesterday was Mojo Monday and this was their sketch.

Mojo 348 Sketch

With the new catalog going live yesterday, my head was spinning with so many new ideas yet it left me oddly with absolutely NO desire to do any stamping. What the? Then I spotted my Everyday Adventure Project Life Card Collection. As such they are for scrapbooking but I had to wonder.

Project Life AssistanceThree cards was all that it took: one for the background, one for the center, and one more for the embellishments as such. Three Candy Dots and a tea-doily sponged with Crumb Cake Classic Ink and Gold Metallic Ink were the final touches.

Mojo Monday 348 - Hi Project Life - JIF

The “HI” was fussy-cut then covered with Liquid Crystal, as was the 1″ Circle that was adhered to the Essentials Wooden Embellishment. One of the off-cuts from the fussy-cutting was used for the banner which was put through the Decorative Dot Embossing Folder.

Oh, and if you think my tea-doily is a tad wonky, it is, lol! Having sponged the tea-doily I’d put it aside for the Metallic Ink to dry then promptly forgot about it. I did try to convince myself it wasn’t necessary but couldn’t do it so then had to cut three sides off the tea-doily before gluing them down. Crazy huh?!

Look Up to My Father!

Posted on

When the Crumb Cake Classic Ink was first introduced I couldn’t get enough of it, using it on what seemed like EVERYTHING but slowly this love waned. So when I reached for it the other day it brought a smile to my face.

Quite apt give the name of the stamp set I was planning to use, Look Up to My Father Stamp from the Celebrate the Everyday catalog. This comes as one stamp but I made the decision from the on-set to cut the sentiment off, thus creating two stamps and a much easier way to utilize the tree. It’s such a beautiful tree, my first in fact, lol! 🙂

My Father - Cajun Hardwood - JIF

What I hadn’t remembered however after creating this card was that I’d already used the Hardwood Stamp as a background for this very stamp whilst on the crop last month, oops. The card is the same… but different! Don’t you just love the combination of Marina Mist with Baked Brown Sugar?

My Father - Marina Mist - JIFAfter so much hardwood I was more than ready to change things up. A combination of the Banner Framelit Dies and Epic This and That DSP took care of this VERY quickly.

Hardwood Trio!

Posted on

The Hardwood Background Stamp, available in the Celebrate the Everyday catalog, has proved itself quite a main-stay for me these past few months. Depending on the color you choose to stamp with, it can be a subtle or in-your-face background, or it can make quite the feature. I love this versatility from a background stamp!

This first card was quite the mistake and highlights yet another reason why one should really only have ONE stamp pad open at a time when stamping as I intended to be stamping with Crumb Cake Classic Ink not the Cajun Craze Classic Ink, lol! Oddly it made the next step so much easier as I had NO idea what I was going to do next.

Hardwood - Hello Blue Bird - JIFThis next card is VERY different to what I’d normally do but when I first added this stamp to my stash, this was the only way I could see how to use it. How funny is THAT!

Hardwood - Sweet Birds - JIFThe subtle stamping of this image is what I like best about it, lending itself to more masculine cards I feel, but that could be just me. Even with bling it’s still a male card, lol!

Hardwood - Ships on Film - JIFIf you don’t have this stamp already and would like to add it to your stash, click on the Shop Now button below which will take you to my 24-hour shopping area. Sign in or create an account if you haven’t already, and begin shopping!
