Snowflakes on Soft Skies!

Posted on

I am NOT going to admit to how long I have had my Festive Flurry Bundle before using it for the first time this week but I am willing to admit that I am now wondering how I EVER lived without it, lol! 🙂

With only 29 days until Christmas, here’s the first Christmas miracle of the season so I hope you’re sitting down for it… my Mojo Monday is actually being posted on a Monday, I know, crazy huh?! Anyways, this is this week’s sketch…

Mojo 321 Sketch

Today’s card came about so quickly that it actually scared me with not only the speed in which I created but as to how much I really like the end result. If only I had a French Horn so I could blow it, lol! Without further ado here’s my take on the sketch…

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - JIF

On my base of Whisper White I did the smallest border of Soft Sky cardstock around my Winter Frost Specialty DSP. What I’ve used here is the reverse of the same sheet if that makes sense. The next layer was the smallest border of Silver Foil around the Soft Sky cardstock which I embossed with a silver snow-flake from the Warmth & Wonder Hostess Stamp Set.

The layer upon this was the smallest border of Whisper White around Silver Foil. This foil I fully intended to dry emboss with Perfect Polka Dots but was interrupted with a trip to the hospital with Girl Child for vaccinations so forgot, oops! The final layer is a snowflake from the Snow Flurry set which I heat embossed with Iridescent Ice on Whisper White cardstock (sadly though the sparkle isn’t showing on these photos) before cutting it with the corresponding framelit.

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - Embossed Layers - JIF

After I’d adhered all the layers on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I added to the snowflake two of my current favorites from the Holiday Catalog, the Frosted Finishes Embellishments and the “Merry” from the Expressions Thinlits Dies in Silver Foil. LOVE THEM!!! To this I’ve silver embossed “Christmas” onto the DSP from the stamp set Sweet Essentials. This stamp set, if you don’t already have it, is fabulous as it all sentiments which cover many events plus they are quite a reasonable size which I like.

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - Merry - JIFYet again I felt like the Swedish chef from the Muppets with my “layer upon layer upon layer” and yes, I did say this to myself repeatedly with the accent over the course of the afternoon! 🙂

Another frame!

I just couldn’t help myself! When a friend of ours celebrated the birth of her daughter I wanted to giver her something special so… created a frame similar to what I did for Miss Ten’s teacher. As the children would say, it’s the same but different.

Congratulations on the safe arrival of number 3!

I finally found an outlet that sold the frames which are perfect for these creations and was told they had a shipment about to be delivered. Hmmmm, that was three or four weeks ago so I guess I’d best make the call.

Don’t you hate it when you request a particular item from a retailer are then told, yes not only can they get it but they already have an order coming which is expected next week. You then ask if perhaps you should call to confirm the order’s arrival: No, they say, we’ll call you {smile} {smile}… and never a peep is heard.

This frustrates me no end as I do appreciate they are busy, heck, most of us are busy but if they know they’ll get side-tracked with other business then put the onus back onto me, make it MY responsibility as it’s what I want. I don’t mind, honestly!

Pinch and a Punch for the First Day of the Month…

Plus the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming… aaahhhh, the first day of Spring. That was until the clouds blew in, the breeze became gusty, and the air… generally cold. Do you ever get the feeling real life and one’s perception are two TOTALLY different things?

On saying this though that I must confess this morning was beautiful which worked brilliantly for Miss Seven’s and Master Nine’s Book Week celebrations on the oval. They had a hoot all dressed up – one as a witch, the other as the Hunchback of Notra Dame’s skeleton, and I as Big Red – Little Red Riding Hood’s big sister. See, she was the one who should have been looking after Grandma when the wolf ate her but instead had just stepped outside to “chat” to the woodsman about how big his axe was!

Another big event today was the official launch of the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue – how exciting! No more secrets, no more narrative – you can see it all for yourselves! Whilst you are waiting for your own copy of the new catalogue, click on the picture of it just to the right to scroll through the pages… as I’ve said before, it’s beautiful.

Now, don’t forget, I have the new catalogues here for $10, or if you’d like one for nothing, simply book a workshop and not only will you receive a complimentary catalogue, but you will have the opportunity to earn free stamp sets and loads of free merchandise – too easy!

One of my “new” favourite stamp sets is Artistic Etchings – besides the wonderful Eiffel Tower, there is a fabulous circle stamp that I’ve used quite a bit already for backgrounds, along with a key, crown, and others. Both the key and crown I’ve embossed in gold before cutting them out and adhering to the card. I’ve also added small adhesive pearls to  both of these.

My dear friend ROC showed me this following  little darling a couple of weeks ago. Something so very useful with the silly season looming so quickly upon us – a Gift Card Wallet!

Open it up and you have this… how clever is this, the divided sections within is simply an envelope that’s been halved!

Don’t you just love it!

What a day!

After much threatening I finally “sorted” the bedroom’s of Master Nine and Miss Seven this week-end. I foolishly started with Miss Seven’s  room thinking it would be the hardest room to put in order. However, it only took  four hours yesterday to knock into shape which was a wonderful surprise. Master Nine’s room today though… boy, that was ANOTHER story!

I went down at 12.30 this afternoon expecting it to be done in a matter of a couple of hours… HA, SEVEN HOURS LATER! Yep, I eventually emerged from his room at 7.30 this evening. I could not believe how much needed to be done. It was exhausting but my gosh, it really does look good now.

And so they should with an entire wheelie bin of garbage removed from these two rooms – no surprises to know I’ve created two little “paper people“. Plus there are three boxes and  one large gar-bag in the back of the car ready for the charity shop plus there are three  boxes for storage of keepsake items. Talk about a good purge!

But before my battery completely expires on my laptop, here’s an encore performance from a card we did for the technique class regarding SU! pastels. This card bids a Fond Farewell to Colour #22 – Lavender Lace. This is another of those colours I’ll be sad to see go as there is nothing similar to this in the new catty. Time to place an order I’d say!

Oh my gosh – I can’t believe how quickly this month is going and I haven’t even come close to beginning all the catching up I need to do with all the scrap-booking I have plans for… such is life. well my life at any rate! (Especially now with the cat sitting across both my arms as I attempt to type this… yes, my life!)

This was such a cute box we made at one of my workshops making full use of the wonderful delights of the Big Shot (yes, I’m still very much besotted with my Big Shot). This beautiful Christmas DSP is retiring also in just over a couple of weeks so if you are looking for something a little non-traditional but not completely out of the box, this DSP is for you. Sooooooooooooo

Call me today to place your order!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!
