Mirrored Love – Just Sayin’!

Posted on

Sometimes all we need is a nudge to get going and when it comes to card making what better place to get that nudge than the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog!

That’s what I did for the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set. So often I look at this stamp set and all I see are word bubbles on cartoons so I turned to page 109 for inspiration and a little CASE’n.

My first card was a lot of fun to make as I used a LOT of different elements on it. From the Word Bubble Framelits, the Hearts Collection Framelits, and the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. Then there was the What’s Up Punch and the Heart Punch from the Itty Bitty Accents (IBA) Punch Pack.

As I used the Silver Foil Heart Vellum as the background, where in the catalog gold Washi Tape had been used, I used a stamp from the Tape It Stamp Set in Smoky Slate Classic Ink. A combination of Silver Foil Paper and Brushed Silver Cardstock created the “mirror”.

It was so much easier having a basis for the card I couldn’t help myself but CASE another card from that same page. I really like my interpretation of this card!

Two tidy rooms… too tired to think!

Posted on

It may have just been two rooms I sorted and rearranged but it feels as if I did the ENTIRE house! People think I’m just joking when I say I’m allergic to dust and mildew and the cleaning products that removes these things but I really am. So when I do do a major clean as I did just recently with the children’s bedrooms,¬†the side effect is I feel as if I’m hung-over. Hence the reason I’m not the clean freak I used to be… and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! ūüôā

As always of course, I had one or three things on my list to do yesterday but I sat on the couch on the pretense of “sorting buttons” and that’s where I stayed until it was school run time. Even now I’m still toying with the idea of “sorting more buttons”¬†as my head is still swimming. But enough of my pity party!

Let’s bid a Fond Farewell to Colour #23 – Barely Banana. This colour goes exquisitely well with the chocolate chip and why wouldn’t it – chocolate and banana – yum. I can still taste the banana and nutella crepes that were being sold from little crepe stalls on the side-walks of Paris. I was so looking forward to sharing this treat with my family when we holidayed there a couple of years ago¬†but¬†alas, I don’t know if it was because it was off-season or what, they just weren’t there…

The pattern on both the Barely Banana ¬†and the Chocolate chip was from the Illuminated Wheel which is… retiring! I think it’s safe to say if I like it, it’s retiring. Fortunately I’m too tired to get a complex about it!¬†In the shoe I’ve put some delicious Lindt balls, and in the hand-bag are two hot chocolate sachets. Chocolate on chocolate – you have to like that!

Oh… I’ve just realised I don’t think I’ve mentioned these two items are¬†this¬†month’s “Off the Page” class – named Sex in the City. I take no credit for that title, this belongs to Juliette Chapman, one of the incredibly talented¬†ladies from the ESAD group I belong to.

Should you and a friend¬†be interested in this class, or any class for that matter,¬†please contact me and we’ll arrange a time suitable to us both. I understand time is precious to us all so if a class time just doesn’t work for you,¬†simply call me and I’m sure something can be arranged!

Joke of the Day:

What do you put into a box to make it lighter?
A hole of course!

What a week-end!

Posted on

After the way I was feeling Friday I wasn’t expecting much from the week-end but hubby was ready to rock n roll in the garage so down to the garage we went after lunch Saturday and WOW we now have a children’s play room… and I can’t walk thanks to a bad back but hey… it’s all about give and take isn’t it!?

Now, I promised a picture of a couple of workshop “Make and Takes” weeks ago so here ’tis…

This is the cute little box with matching tag I was making with the “Always” set in my favourite colours Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant on Very Vanilla. And¬† below is the matching card.

I can’t get enough of the Sweet Treat Cups…

Posted on

I really can’t! I’m obviously still learning, and of course, I¬†seem to have at least a trillion ideas¬† right up until the moment I stand at my table, then… I go blank. Hence I’m still on rather basic designs but hey, we all gotta start somewhere! This was my first effort – I thought it was a cute way to use up some of my button supplies…

Then I was set the challenge of making a card for a boy and when inspiration was at a stand still… I reached for a Sweet Treat Cup. I like it but still feel it’s needs something else so I shall keep pondering that one. Given it’s taken almost a week to find the cards I made last Tuesday, don’t expect any changes too soon!

My next attempt is going to be a piggy bank – yes, a piggy bank! I was cruising the web the other night and came across this wonderful idea… now if I only I could find that page again I’d have something to show you…
