You know you’re tired when…

after two hours in the bath you wish you were in a spa bath so the water jets could pound your weary bones… then you realise you ARE in a spa bath and what’s worse… it’s your own bath! Just goes to show you how often I have a spa bath…

This was me after our garage sale on Saturday. Many thanks to everyone for their support – it was all very much appreciated I can assure you! The day went surprising quickly given Master Nine and I were out putting up our signs at 5.30am, with our first potential customer arriving not long thereafter and we continued on until 2pm when we closed the garage door. I managed to keep my eyes open until 7pm before falling asleep, only to wake at 11pm wide awake for the three hours… aaaahhhh!

But get this, even after the week that was I was still expecting to get into the Studio today for a bit of creating… HA, AS IF! So, with hands on hips tonight  I wondered what I had before spying three cards I haven’t yet shared with you.

The reason I haven’t yet shared these was because they were going to be October’s Make & Takes, then when I postponed classes until next year I was keeping these for February’s Make & Takes but today I was able to pre-order from the Summer Mini Catalogue that Stampin’ Up! is releasing next month and there’s a set in there that will be perfect for February’s Make & Take so now I’ll share!

You may remember the purpose of my Make and Take classes is to highlight just the one set of stamps, showing you how to get three very different looks. (Don’t you hate those classes where you’ve used stamps from at least three sets, then you find  out at least of those sets is retired… very frustrating to say the least…) Most times I aim to do a male, female, and child;s card but given the Eiffel Tower stamp  in this Artistic Etchings stamp set, I felt on this occasion we could omit the child’s card and do a bon voyage card instead.

This card tonight was my “male” orientated card. I thought male through the repeated use of the crown which I believe is more male in style than female but hey, maybe that’s just me!

CARD RECIPE
Stamp Sets: Artistic Etchings, Perfect Punches
Cardstock: Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White
Ink: Black StazOn, Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot,
Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Spiral Border Punch, XL Oval Punch,
Hemp Twine, Antique Brass Eyelet, Crop-A-Dile, Dimensionals

Careful what you wish for…

On the way home from swimming lessons yesterday we were still chatting about the special screening of  “Despicable Me” we saw on Sunday. It was soooooooo funny that I have all my fingers and toes crossed that it’s out on DVD before Christmas so that Santa will be able to add it to one of the stockings.

This conversation then led onto various other movies we’d seen in the past that we thought were hilarious yet hadn’t seen for ages. The likes of “Mars Attack” is one of our favourites – totally ridiculous but a good hoot. Anyways, with all this talk of movies I said (my mother’s kiss of death) “oh, I really hope it’s a wet week-end so we can pile up all these movies to watch whilst filling up on snacks!”

I thought this a fabulous idea but the scream of horror from Master Nine suggested otherwise. Turns out if it’s raining he and his father can’t play footie in the park. I quickly changed my previous wish to that of lovely blue clear skies but listening to the weather reports on the way to school this afternoon, then watching them after the news this evening… it would appear I wasn’t quick enough with my retraction and that my wish could be coming true… rain all week-end… dang!

Which had me thinking just how I would be using my time this week-end (I really want to lock myself in the Studio as, I feel the need, the need for 6×6’s…) which had me thinking about one of the beautiful new stamp sets from the new catalogue… Sense of Time. I particularly like the two sayings with this set – so very versatile and useful. Plus for just $39.95 this set makes for fabulous value (sorry ROC it’s only comes in Wood Mount though!).

The cogs stamp I really like also as it makes a great background. After stamping the clock face in chocolate chip, I then clear embossed it all. The background was created by drops of ink refills onto a metho soaked piece of felt then splodged over the white gloss card-stock – Polished Stone I do believe they call this effect.

What I love about this technique of Polished Stone is that you just NEVER get two pieces the same no matter how much you try. The button is from my own stash which I’m attempting to “down size” so if you are interested in a bottle please let me know as can I do a deal for you!

Joke of the Day:

Knock Knock
Who’s there?
Sawyer
Sawyer who?
Sawyer lights on, so I thought I’d drop by…

Pinch and a Punch for the First Day of the Month…

Plus the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming… aaahhhh, the first day of Spring. That was until the clouds blew in, the breeze became gusty, and the air… generally cold. Do you ever get the feeling real life and one’s perception are two TOTALLY different things?

On saying this though that I must confess this morning was beautiful which worked brilliantly for Miss Seven’s and Master Nine’s Book Week celebrations on the oval. They had a hoot all dressed up – one as a witch, the other as the Hunchback of Notra Dame’s skeleton, and I as Big Red – Little Red Riding Hood’s big sister. See, she was the one who should have been looking after Grandma when the wolf ate her but instead had just stepped outside to “chat” to the woodsman about how big his axe was!

Another big event today was the official launch of the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue – how exciting! No more secrets, no more narrative – you can see it all for yourselves! Whilst you are waiting for your own copy of the new catalogue, click on the picture of it just to the right to scroll through the pages… as I’ve said before, it’s beautiful.

Now, don’t forget, I have the new catalogues here for $10, or if you’d like one for nothing, simply book a workshop and not only will you receive a complimentary catalogue, but you will have the opportunity to earn free stamp sets and loads of free merchandise – too easy!

One of my “new” favourite stamp sets is Artistic Etchings – besides the wonderful Eiffel Tower, there is a fabulous circle stamp that I’ve used quite a bit already for backgrounds, along with a key, crown, and others. Both the key and crown I’ve embossed in gold before cutting them out and adhering to the card. I’ve also added small adhesive pearls to  both of these.

My dear friend ROC showed me this following  little darling a couple of weeks ago. Something so very useful with the silly season looming so quickly upon us – a Gift Card Wallet!

Open it up and you have this… how clever is this, the divided sections within is simply an envelope that’s been halved!

Don’t you just love it!

Two tidy rooms… too tired to think!

Posted on

It may have just been two rooms I sorted and rearranged but it feels as if I did the ENTIRE house! People think I’m just joking when I say I’m allergic to dust and mildew and the cleaning products that removes these things but I really am. So when I do do a major clean as I did just recently with the children’s bedrooms, the side effect is I feel as if I’m hung-over. Hence the reason I’m not the clean freak I used to be… and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! 🙂

As always of course, I had one or three things on my list to do yesterday but I sat on the couch on the pretense of “sorting buttons” and that’s where I stayed until it was school run time. Even now I’m still toying with the idea of “sorting more buttons” as my head is still swimming. But enough of my pity party!

Let’s bid a Fond Farewell to Colour #23 – Barely Banana. This colour goes exquisitely well with the chocolate chip and why wouldn’t it – chocolate and banana – yum. I can still taste the banana and nutella crepes that were being sold from little crepe stalls on the side-walks of Paris. I was so looking forward to sharing this treat with my family when we holidayed there a couple of years ago but alas, I don’t know if it was because it was off-season or what, they just weren’t there…

The pattern on both the Barely Banana  and the Chocolate chip was from the Illuminated Wheel which is… retiring! I think it’s safe to say if I like it, it’s retiring. Fortunately I’m too tired to get a complex about it! In the shoe I’ve put some delicious Lindt balls, and in the hand-bag are two hot chocolate sachets. Chocolate on chocolate – you have to like that!

Oh… I’ve just realised I don’t think I’ve mentioned these two items are this month’s “Off the Page” class – named Sex in the City. I take no credit for that title, this belongs to Juliette Chapman, one of the incredibly talented ladies from the ESAD group I belong to.

Should you and a friend be interested in this class, or any class for that matter, please contact me and we’ll arrange a time suitable to us both. I understand time is precious to us all so if a class time just doesn’t work for you, simply call me and I’m sure something can be arranged!

Joke of the Day:

What do you put into a box to make it lighter?
A hole of course!

Oops… I did it again!

I needed to look up my OWN class details for one reason or another and noticed that I hadn’t been doing any updating with picture of late. Not even a sneak peek which is a bit rude of me I must say so my apologies. So just quickly, here is this month’s Make and Take. Mark it on your calendar if you haven’t already, Make and Take Monday is the THIRD Monday of each month. Call me now if you’d to book as I do like to keep numbers to a maximum of just six.

Now, this first card bids a Fond Farewell to Colour #21 – Gable Green.

This photo does not do justice to this card at all as the card itself is Soft Suede– yep, hard to believe  but it is! The next card has two of my favourite colour – Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant PLUS bling – delightful.

Then for the third card, I used colours that were more masculine – Only Orange, Chocolate Chip and Night of Navy.

Joke of the Day:

Why did the cow jump over the moon?
Because the farmer had cold hands
