You know you’re tired when…

after two hours in the bath you wish you were in a spa bath so the water jets could pound your weary bones… then you realise you ARE in a spa bath and what’s worse… it’s your own bath! Just goes to show you how often I have a spa bath…

This was me after our garage sale on Saturday. Many thanks to everyone for their support – it was all very much appreciated I can assure you! The day went surprising quickly given Master Nine and I were out putting up our signs at 5.30am, with our first potential customer arriving not long thereafter and we continued on until 2pm when we closed the garage door. I managed to keep my eyes open until 7pm before falling asleep, only to wake at 11pm wide awake for the three hours… aaaahhhh!

But get this, even after the week that was I was still expecting to get into the Studio today for a bit of creating… HA, AS IF! So, with hands on hips tonight  I wondered what I had before spying three cards I haven’t yet shared with you.

The reason I haven’t yet shared these was because they were going to be October’s Make & Takes, then when I postponed classes until next year I was keeping these for February’s Make & Takes but today I was able to pre-order from the Summer Mini Catalogue that Stampin’ Up! is releasing next month and there’s a set in there that will be perfect for February’s Make & Take so now I’ll share!

You may remember the purpose of my Make and Take classes is to highlight just the one set of stamps, showing you how to get three very different looks. (Don’t you hate those classes where you’ve used stamps from at least three sets, then you find  out at least of those sets is retired… very frustrating to say the least…) Most times I aim to do a male, female, and child;s card but given the Eiffel Tower stamp  in this Artistic Etchings stamp set, I felt on this occasion we could omit the child’s card and do a bon voyage card instead.

This card tonight was my “male” orientated card. I thought male through the repeated use of the crown which I believe is more male in style than female but hey, maybe that’s just me!

CARD RECIPE

It’s that time of the year again when I ask myself…

Oh WHY am I living on the SUNNY COAST???

We were so spoilt over the school holidays with overcast days almost EVERY day but alas, this week the clouds are only coming in at night leaving the skies bright and glaring all day. Which to the average person is simply delightful, but for me it’s a nightmare as all it does for me is bring on headaches and migraines. Not the best thing when you already know it’s less then 9 weeks to the Christmas school holidays… oh well, only another 230 days until winter. 🙁

I wonder how hard it would be to teach my body to work like that of a shift worker – to sleep during the day whilst the children are at school and the sun is at it’s brightest then come alive at night by the light of the silvery moon. The only down side would be Miss Seven would be with me every step of the way but hey, it’s food for thought!

So… given my slightly less then active day today I’ll show you two of the three Make and Takes we did at the Brisbane Regionals last month. Both these projects used the Every Moment stamp set. This is one of those sets that if it hadn’t been part of the registration package on the day I would NEVER had considered it but now that I have it, of course it’s a completely different matter! This is the first project…

Don’t you just love how the flowers come alive with the new Daffodil Delight Classic Ink and just the one small pearl jewel on each one? It’s so sweet with a smidge of Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon tied onto a wide clip. The card-stock believe it or not is Soft Suede but you’d never guess it having taken the photo at night, sorry. The second project is slightly different…

How cute is this and how simple. It’s the Fancy Favour box both bottom and top – the top simply has the bottom flaps cut off and placed over the box on the bottom as a lid. How easy is that, yet how effective?!

And guess what? It’s only 80 days ’til Christmas!!!

Spring has Sprung!

Posted on

After yesterday’s introduction into Spring I wasn’t expecting much out of today at all but wouldn’t you know it, by 10.30 this morning I had every window and door (including the bi-folds out onto the deck) open it was so warm, and the rustling in the bushes… oh my, the lizards are coming out of hibernation!

I could hear something large outside the kitchen window but each time I looked out there was nothing to be seen. Eventually the noise became much louder, as if a large dog was walking through the back neighbours ferns and dead palm fronds yet not a leaf was moving when suddenly I had a cat either side me also looking out. What do they know that we don’t as it was then a head appeared from the foliage. It was Brutus, our resident three foot river dragon emerging after many months away!

Later when I went down to the Studio, there was another river dragon sunning itself on a rock. I do so love my lizards but I’m mighty glad that none of them pop out to say hello two afternoon’s ago when Harrison and I were scrambling around the urban forest looking for his football. It was hard enough with the heels but add a lizard to the mix… yikes!

But speaking of the Studio, here are the the cards that were made for August’s Make and Take using the Always stamp set and just a smidge of some of the new DSP (the name of which escapes me just at the moment and upstairs seems so very far away right now to go and get my new catalogue to check). So here is the first card made with Mambo Melon.

The second card was in the Tangerine, using a number of different hand punches and the Top Note Die Cut and the Alphabet  for the Big Shot (ooooo, I love my Big Shot!). I was most impressed with how after stamping the heart it was possible to use the Full Heart Punch to capture the pattern.

The third card was in Bashful Blue using the DSP.

The lunch pack of Notre Dame

Is it Spring already?

We couldn’t believe it – in a matter of a week we’d heard of five different couples we knew of who had each been blessed with the birth of a son… and one little girl. It’s been so long since I have touched anything even resembling a baby’s card so talk about getting into a completely different mind space!

And of course, me being me, I couldn’t just go down to the Studio and whip something up… oh no… I had something very specific in mind and when it wouldn’t transpire to – well… let’s just say it slowed things up tremendously. It did however remind me that I had made a card a while back  in celebration of a friend’s first grandson that I never posted and now that I’m looking at it again I see I’ve used a retiring colour so without further ado here ’tis… a Fond Farewell to Colour #13 – Summer Sun!

Once again, this card is nothing what I had in mind as I wanted to peg the name onto the string and even had a little jumpsuit cut out for it (an influence from the new catalogue – not long now!)  but it just didn’t look right at all. The blue I’ve used is the Brilliant Blue which is also retiring. Everything on this card is Stampin’ Up! with the exception of the ribbon. I did try the narrow white ribbon from Stampin’ Up! but felt this one in the blue with a little yellow running through it worked much better.

The next card I did was for Harrison’s hairdresser who after four little girls now has his heir! For this card I used another retiring colour so here’s a Fond Farewell to Colour #14 – Only Orange.

I was really happy with this card as I was able to use a few things from my other stash which had me thinking out of the box. What I found amusing was that I’ve never been a great fan of orange but after making this card it really had my creative juices flowing. Consequently I now have depleted my Only Orange supplies. How funny is that?!

Here is another card the orange inspired for a work colleague of my Darling Hubby’s who recently was blessed with his first son also. With the background on Samuel’s card I simply Versamarked it, whereas on Felix’s card on embossed it in orange.

Here are the other two cards I did – yet another boy’s card for Master Blake, then saving the prettiest for last, Miss Emily’s card. Welcome little people!

I just can’t resist the white picket fence on a baby card can I but I haven’t done it on the next one if you are a little over it! Emily’s card is VERY girlie… and NOTHING like I planned it! I know, I too wish there was a something I could take for that as it would save a LOT of pain let me tell you 😉
