Butterfly Textures (Freshly Made Sketches 300)

Posted on

You know you have it bad when the first thing you think of on waking is “how can I tweak that card-front base to make it work“. And the really hilarious thing is that even the tweak was tweaked!😂

Immediately adhering the base is not something I would usually do and am really not sure what made me do this. It made things that much more difficult in the end.ย Here is my take on this week’s Freshly Made Sketches 300.

This is the original sketch from Freshly Made Sketches which was my inspiration.

With a little masking, some silver embossing, a strip of foil cut with thinlets, along with a thinlets butterfly “splashed inked” and blinged up and voila, done!

For You Blended Bloom!

Posted on

The new Blended Bloom Stamp is proving to be a favorite of mine when I want to dress-up a plain base color. A splash of Smoky Grey Classic Ink provides the perfect accompaniment for the stamp.

Stamp onto Pink Pirouette Cardstock, add a few Basic Rhinestone Jewels and you’re onto a winner for certain. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I seem to be rather partial to the good old Chalk Talk Stamp Set and Framelits!

You’re Lovely in Pink!

Posted on

For a Fast Friday, it’s taking me longer to write this post than it did to make the card – what’s with THAT, lol?! Sadly, it really has become one of THOSE weeks. ๐Ÿ™

Plus it would seem this week I’m in a very “pink” frame of mind. Not sure why, perhaps its a Ying/Yang thing, but after last week always reaching for the Bermuda Bay, this week I’m turning to pink. And if that’s not bad enough, I’ve CASE’d a card almost as exactly AS IS. Honestly, this seldom EVER happens with me. Habit has me changing most everything without even realizing it!

Are you familiar with this term – CASEing? Copy And Share Everything! It’s very acceptable in card-making although card etiquette does ask that credit is given where credit is due. In this CASE (pardon the pun but it had to be said, lol) it was Sharon Cheng, one VERY talented lady.

Now, without further ado here is MY card, lol!

Youre Lovely in Pink!

Talk about a great way to use up your scraps as all the colored cardstock came from my scrap-stash. Even the piece of White Vellum Cardstock came from my scraps. I love how this You’re Lovely stamp from the Sale-a-Bration selection compliments the Deco Labels Collections Dies.

Also, if you’re wanting to try this card yourself, the width of my strips from left to right were – 4cm, 3.5cm, 3cm and 2.5cm. The length is at your own discretion.

CARD RECIPE
Cardstock: Whisper White, Rose Red, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals,
Strawberry Slush, Pink Pirouette
Stamp Set: You’re Lovely (Sale-a-Bration 2014)
Classic Ink: Melon Mambo

Framelits: Deco Labels Collection, Envelope Liners
Embossing Folder: Decorative Dots (Sale-a-Bration 2014)
Embellishments: Rhinestones Basic Jewels
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Big Shot, Sticky Strip,
Medium White Envelope, Stampin’ Dimensionals

With fresh snow falling outside I know I’M going to have a WONDERFULLY productive week-end – wishing you one also!

I was SOOOOO close!!!

Posted on

Wow, I was this close, this close to having this card completed and posted last night until I remembered why I didn’t use the glue I had used last night very much anymore, choosing instead to always use sticky strip. It was of course the drying time, ugh! It all came back to me like a charging bull. ๐Ÿ™

Anyways, one thing has led to another and here it is, NOT even first thing this morning rather late at night but regardless, here I am finally posting it. The basis of my card is this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch 323.

Mojo 323 Sketch

This is my card but I should warn you first not EVERYTHING is Stampin’ Up! PLUS I’ve utilized a couple of retired DSPs. On this occasion I’ve gone with the “feel”, not the product so I hope you can forgive me. (And it’s for my mother’s birthday next month!)

Mojo323 - JIF - Happy Birthday Enjoy!

The striped paper I’ve used is from last year’s SU Regals Designer Series Paper Stack which I’ve stamped Flowering Flourishes in that wonderful Illuminate Ink, both from this year’s Annual Catalog. Then I’ve replaced the thread over the DSP shown on the Mojo Sketch with strings of pearls sprouting from either end of the labels which have had the edges sponged in Crumb Cake.

Both of these labels have been cut from the same sized frame-lit, the difference being the Pink Pirouette cardstock was then cut in half so there would be a little showing on either end with the pointed middles snipped off.

The flowers were bought months and months ago from the local Dollar Store, and the light-bulb, well… that was the result of some late night shopping following a scrapbooking crop… need I say more. ๐Ÿ™‚Mojo323 - JIF - Enjoy

ย Of course it’s only now as I look at the card I realize the weight I’ve put in it isn’t the best for posting, lol!
