Silver Snowflakes (MFT Card Challenge 348)

Yesterday I was in desperate need of a change. In the last week I have created a dozen two-page scrapbook pages. I’m almost half-way through this album with still a second album to do. What can I say, Spring Break 2013 was very good!

For a change of direction yesterday I worked with the My Favorite Things Card Challenge #348. My card is not quite what I envisioned and feel it is still lacking something but right now that something eludes me.

This is the sketch given by My Favourite Things for the challenge. As you can see, I certainly didn’t stray far from the design at all.

As for now, it’s time to get back into the school routine with two teenagers who really don’t want to return to high school today. Wish me luck!

Bermuda Bay Mojo

Another Monday another Mojo Monday. Here is my card for this week’s challenge.

A pattern from the Confetti Celebration DSP was my starting point with Bermuda Bay Cardstock as the anchor at the bottom which I mistakenly didn’t stamp with Gorgeous Grunge in Bermuda Classic Ink until AFTER I’d adhered it. Yikes!

Silver Foil Paper was used with the Argyle Embossing Folder to give some dimension to it. The Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper SHOULD have been corner punched on all four corner but once again forgot to do this until AFTER I’d adhered it. Double yikes!

Wondering what I could do and use as a sentiment, A Happy Hooray Stamp Set became the perfect choice with the round sentiment which was die-cut then edged in Dazzling Diamond Glitter. Underneath this sentiment is White 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon and 1/8″ Silver Ribbon.

Silver Lined Mojo Monday!

I was this close, THIS close to having my Mojo Monday actually completed and posted on Monday but the heat conquered all. My energy levels were sapped after a day in Terrace. Oh. My. Goodness. Wasn’t it hot?! Anyways, here is my card.

As you can see I was in a short and squat mood so went for a 6″x6″ Whisper White Cardstock base with a Fancy Foil Designer Vellum Silver Hearts overlay. Oh, here’s this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.

Mojo Monday Sketch 354For the rectangles I’ve used Brushed Silver (p.193) for the long, skinny one and Silver Foil (p.193) for both the remaining rectangles. The smallest one I cut with the Fringe Scissors (p.215), yes, they WERE carried over from the Spring Catty!

The ribbon is the beautiful Blushing Bride 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon. Which reminds me, I’m in the process of doing up Ribbon Shares that is, bundles of one-yard of each ribbon in each ribbon group. I {heart} You!

For today’s Mojo Monday my card could be given this Friday as a Valentine’s Card or could be given as an Engagement or Wedding Card. Here is the sketch.

Mojo 332 Sketch

For my card I’ve gone with a very basic color scheme of Silver Foil (on offer again in the Spring Catty) and Silver and Red Glimmer Paper. For the background I cut the Silver Foil to cover the entire front of the base card, then cut an inch from that. Putting this piece aside, I cut the remaining piece in half then embossed each half with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (yours free with any $60 purchase this Sale-a-Bration!). When assembling I placed the piece NOT embossed in the center and the embossed pieces either side

Mojo Monday Sketch 332 - Joanne Ritchie With the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies I cut two hearts from the Red Glimmer Paper, adhering one either side of the Silver Glimmer Paper tag I made using the wonderful new Scallop Edge Tag Punch available now in the Spring Catty. A piece of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon finished off the tag.

Mojo Monday Sketch 332 - Glitter Paper - JIFAcross the bottom of the tag I simply snipped a piece of the Silver Foil to give it a banner effect on one edge then adhered to the other end three of the beautiful Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons. This time I haven’t even added a sentiment as I think the red hearts say it all!
