Flowering Flourishes in the Garden!

Posted on

You know it’s Monday when you see one of the wonderful sketches from Mojo Monday appearing in your in-box. This is today’s sketch..

Mojo 336 - what will YOUR card look like?

For something a little different this week I went with a square card – this is it.

Mojo 336 - Flowering Flourishes in the Garden - JIF

This piece of DSP had been sitting on my table all week so decided today would be the perfect opportunity to utilize it. My base card was Very Vanilla Cardstock, onto this went Early Espresso Cardstock which had been stamped with Flowering Flourishes in Versamark then sponged in Early Espresso Classic Ink.  The Soho Subway DSP edges were sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink before lengths of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim was added then adhered to the Early Espresso Cardstock.

Mojo 336 - Flowering Flourishes - stamping

Instead of two circles I chose to do one of the Deco Labels Framelits in Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock which I sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink. To this I added a 2-¾” Circle cut from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto this I stamped-off one of the Flowering Flourishes stamps in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. The sentiment from Sassy Salutations was stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink and in hindsight should have been placed more to the top instead of being centered. Oh well. At the time though I wasn’t going to add flowers!

From the Secret Garden Framelits in Pistachio Pudding Core’dinations four stems of leaves were cut and sponged VERY lightly with Crumb Cake Classic Ink. Onto this was added a single Flower Shop stamp in Crumb Cake Classic Ink onto Crumb Cake Cardstock then punched with the Pansy Punch. A Large Pearl Basic Jewel was added to the center of the flower.

Another Monday, another wonderful sketch from the very talented ladies over at the Mojo Monday Blog. This is this week’s sketch…

Mojo334Sketch

This is my take on the sketch and as you can see I have taken my masculine challenge very seriously this time, lol! 🙂 The card base is Very Vanilla Cardstock with Soho Subway DSP on the top section sponged in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. A strip of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the two cogs from the Clockworks Stamp Set stamped-off in Crumb Cake Classic Ink which was also sponged around the edges before being adhered to the card.

Mojo 334 -Soho Goose - JIFThe bottom section consists of the three colors of  Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Suede Card Stock which I glued to a piece of scratch paper then ran through the Big Shot with the Stripes Embossing Folder. This was all then finished off with three Very Vanilla Candy Dots.

Mojo 334 - monochrome embossed stripsInstead of a scalloped circle I chose to use a die from the Window Frames Collection first in the Early Espresso Cardstock then the smaller one in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto both of these die-cuts I used stamps from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. “You make me happy” was stamped over the entirety of the Very Vanilla Cardstock with one additional one stamped on another piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock which with Stampin’ Dimensionals was then placed in the middle of the other Very Vanilla Cardstock.

Mojo334 - close up tage and sentimentThree of Hubby’s Stripped Goose Feathers from his fly fishing was added as the final touch!

Thanks So Much SoHo Subway!

Oh no, I’ve used it again, I can’t believe it! I’ve used a design from the Soho Subway DSP yet again but it was just what I required as a background layer don’t you think?! I just love this card as it’s very clean compared to my usual style of creating yet it still looks busy enough for me if that makes sense.

Thank so much Soho Subway

The Papaya Collage Stamp Set is just so versatile. The butterfly does require some fussy-cutting but with a pearl in the center is very effective. The frame I stamped onto the Whisper White in stamped-off Early Espresso Classic Ink then in Gumball Green stamped the fern inside the frame.

Simple Papaya Collage Butterfly

The sentiment I chose from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set using Raspberry Ripple which I also used to sponge the sides before using Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere to the card.

Old World Gifts of Kindness

It hasn’t been my intention to continually use the Soho Subway DSP but it certainly has become that way though hasn’t it? On this card I have chosen yet another design of this range to punch out hexagons.

Old World Gifts of Kindness

At the top of the card I used some sticky strip to create a ruffle appearance with the beautiful Very Vanilla 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon (more has been ordered so if you forgot or missed out with the first allotment, email me today…), adding some Large Pearl Basic Jewels for some extra ompf!

Very Vanilla Seam Ribbon with Pearls

Then onto the sponged and arranged hexagons I’ve layered (surprise!) the Very Vanilla cardstock onto Early Espresso which I’ve then trimmed with Crisp Cantaloupe 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim. This ribbon ties into the layers on the base card which is Natural Ivory then is layered with Early Espresso, Crisp Cantaloupe with the Very Vanilla cardstock on top!

Crisp Cantaloupe Ribbon

The stamp of the teapot and flowers came from the Tea Party stamp set and was stamped in Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink. The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso from the Gifts of Kindness stamp set (yes, another of my current favorites for sentiments…)!

CARD RECIPE
Cardstock: Natural Ivory, Early Espresso, Crisp Cantaloupe, Very Vanilla
Stamp Set: Gifts of Kindness, Tea Party
Classic Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Early Espresso
DSP: Soho Subway
Ribbon: Crisp Cantaloupe 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim, Very Vanilla 1/2″ Seam Binding
Punch: 3/16″ Corner
Embellishments: Large Pearl Basic Jewels
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Sticky Strip,
Any-where Glue Stick, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The Wondeful Gift of You!

Posted on

This card was actually the result of the Photopolymer card I showed you a couple of days ago. As I was searching for the right DSP to use on that card, I was reminded of this particular design and immediately began constructing a card around it.

Gifts of Kindness

As you can see I was so impressed with this design I haven’t even bothered with layering it, simply sponging the edges in Soft Suede. (I know, weird huh?) The stamp from Gifts of Kindness was stamped directly onto the DSP in Soft Suede Classic Ink which was pretty scary but well worth it for the over-all effect.

Stamping Directly onto DSP!

To a strip of cardstock I added sticky strip then added two strips of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim which I added to the bottom third of the card.

Lovely Label Sentiment

The sentiment I stamped in Soft Suede Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and sponged with Soft Suede Classic Ink. The bottom section of the label was cut off before I tucked it under the ribbon. Sweet don’t you think?

CARD RECIPE
Cardstock: Very Vanilla
Stamp Set: Kindness Matters
Classic Ink: Soft Suede
DSP: Soho Subway
Ribbon: 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Sticky Strip, Sponges

If you don’t have your parcel of Ruffle Stretch Trim Ribbon email me today for yours as they are SO fabulous!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!
