The result of playing with photopolymers?

Posted on

As you may or may not remember, Stampin’ Up! is test driving the Photopolymer Stamp Sets this year.

My set of Photopolymer Stamps

Months ago I bought a set but being me, I simply “popped” them in the stand sitting in front of me on the desk, procrastinating about them ever since. Well, that was until just the other week. Ta-dah!

The results of playing with Photopolymer

It was a very quick yet effective card as I stamped in Basic Black directly onto a sheet of DSP from the Soho Subway range. Fussy-cutting the flags and arrow was a tad tedious but nothing too offensive and then letter by letter I stamped the sentiment. Very simple!

The inspiration for this card design is based on something I saw on Stampin’ Connection. Goodness, with so many wonderfully talented ladies out there one is never lacking in incentive for creativity that’s for certain!

Finding my old MOJO!

Posted on

Oh yes, after creating (I originally wrote “doing” then thought to myself, that word underplays what was achieved so changed it!) that piece for Miss Ten’s teacher last week, I may have just found my old style. Proof is in the pudding as they say so no more dilly-dallying. I may be biased but I really like the end result of this card!

Dream & Inspire - JIF - MOJO300

This is the sketch for this week from Mojo Monday that I based the card on. I have to admit my pledge of doing masculine cards is really REALLY going to be tested with the flowers that are always on these sketches each week. But that’s good, it has me thinking…

I began with the wonderful Soho Subway DSPI just can’t get enough of it! Which is where the large “&” sign originated, it’s on one of the sheets but I only discovered that after I cut the background pattern! As soon as I saw it I knew it had to be included. Combined then with the new Candy Dots, oh my! These Candy Dots look like brads but are self-adhesive and repositionable for a short time, yea BUT, there are also brads that they can go on if you’d prefer, woohoo!

I almost left the “&” on its own but soon realized words were needed so after much procrastination decided on two from the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set. This was also the perfect excuse to use The Open Sea Stamp Set – both on the Marina Mist Cardstock Circle and I used the compass stamp as an embellishment. I did this by stamping in three times, cutting it down a little more on each one then after assembling it with Stampin’ Dimensionals, covered it with Crystal Effects. I have a love/hate relationship with this product as it takes a good three hours to set (overnight is better) but the effect is well worth the time!

The card itself is Naturals Ivory which I have, as always, have

What day is it???

Where does the time go? It’s almost time for the new MOJO Monday and I’m only just completing and posting this one. Good grief but… notice how I’ve managed to keep my pledge of creating masculine cards each week with this challenge.!

Really Good Greetings - FINALLY!

This is this week’s Mojo sketch.

I wanted numbers on this card so reached for the Soho Subway DSP. Finding a contrasting color for the numbers was a no-brainer as all I needed to do was flip the paper. How easy is that?! As you may have also sensed, I can’t seem to get enough of the new burlap ribbon and don’t even get me started on the Hung Up Cute Clips – LOVE THEM ALL!

Lovin' the new embellishments!

For a little something different I used some of the stickers from the “This and That” designer collection. All the stickers in that set are so cute and although are more for the journal, can obviously be used elsewhere. Add a sentiment from the Really Good Greetings stamp set and voila!

Just a little "this and that"!

CARD RECIPE
Card-Stock: Whisper White, Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Suede, Natural Ivory, Chocolate Chip
Stamp Set:
Really Good Greetings
Classic Ink: Early Espresso, Island Indigo & Baked Brown Sugar (for sponging)
DSP: Soho Subway
Embellishments: This and That Designer Stickers, Hung Up Cute Clips,
Garden Gingham Designer Washi Tape, 7/16″ Trim
Essentials: Stampin’ Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Sticky Strip, Sponges,

MOJO Monday!

Posted on

With the end of the school year quickly approaching I’m finding it extremely difficult to keep on top of things. This includes a HUGE box of retired items – stamps, punches, ink pads, etc that I have FOR SALE that require listing. Goodness knows when that will be happening, hopefully soon as I keep adding more and more items to the box!

Anyways, its Monday so there’s a fresh MOJO Monday – here’s my interpretation. I’m loving this Soho Subway DSP which is even better in the flesh than in the book if that’s possible!

Morning Meadow - Mojo297 - JIF

This is this week’s sketch which instantly had the creative juices flowing albeit like a broken fire-hydrant, there was no particular direction for this flow…

Mojo297Sketch

I was trying my darnedest to make a masculine card, being Father’s Day this Sunday I was going to kill two birds with one stone, but then the circle scallops were doing my head in… I panicked… and I added flowers made from the Boho Blossom Punch with the all new gorgeous Strawberry Slush. Strawberry Slush… so NOT masculine 🙂

Morning Meadow - Mojo297 - JIF - Boho Blossoms

The square section for me resulted in more of a rectangle which was perfect sizing in the end for the Thank You stamp from the Morning Meadows stamp set. I inked up well for the first stamping in Raspberry Ripple then continued stamping without re-inking, or as its sometimes called, stamped-off, the sentiment.

I’ve also used the branch stamp set on the background of Always Artichoke in Always Artichoke Classic Ink so there was a little detail to be found but not overwhelmingly so.

FYI: Morning Meadows is a fabulous Hostess Set. Remember when hosting a party, once your sales reach $200 you will be eligible for your choice of Hostess Stamp Sets at a wonderfully discounted rate… just a little more incentive to host a party!
