Blended Bloom Background

Posted on

When looking for some direction last week on the internet for Stampin’ Up’s new Blendabilities, one design by Jan Tink (one SUPER talented demonstrator) kept catching my eye so many times that I knew without doubt that I had to attempt it myself.

It was using the new Blended Bloom Stamp not only for the coloring, but also for the background. Now THIS idea I particularly like and shall be using it again in future. Here’s my card.

Blended Bloom - Coastal Cabana - JIF

It’s not evident from this photograph but the flower I colored with Coastal Cabana Blendabilities was actually cut and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A little of the Thick Baker’s Twine, like that from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Kit from the 2014 Sale-a-Bration but which is now available in the new Annual Catalog, a stamped banner and voila!

Oh, and the sheen you can see from my camera’s flash, is Crystal Effects (p.204). This product, although taking awhile to dry, does create this wonderful epoxy effect on your work.

If you don’t already have some in your stash, please call me so this omission can be immediately rectified. And if we are ordering the Crystal Effects for you we may as well take the opportunity to order some of the wonderful new products from the Annual Catalog. So please, let’s chat soon!

Mojo Monday

Posted on

It would appear I left more than my jeans in Vancouver last week as my Mojo appears to have slipped under the hotel bed also I fear! 🙁

Here is this week’s Mojo Monday sketch which is Tall and Skinny – which is so NOT me. I’m finding this size so extremely difficult to work with. Hence the reason it’s now Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and I’m only just getting there…

Mojo 339 SketchI took one look at this on Monday after printing it off and put it straight back down again; Tuesday I did everything BUT look at it; Wednesday I spent the ENTIRE day alternating between looking at the sketch and looking at Robert Downey Jr (the latter seemingly holding my attention longer…) and then there’s today. This is what I finally came up with and have decided in future no matter what the title, I’m sticking with what I know best – short and squat, lol! Mojo339 - Fresh Prints - JIF

Originally I was going with Whisper White as my base but after three days when I FINALLY changed to the Natural Ivory Cardstock, all was better with the world. For the DSP I chose two from the Fresh Prints Stack, sponging them in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. For the embellishments I went with three Basic Metal Buttons from the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog finished with Linen Thread.

Mojo339 - Metal Buttons - JIFYou may or may not be able to see on the base of the card in VersaMark are Spiral Swirl Stamps to add texture to the base, carrying through with the circles from the bike.

Mojo339 - Sprial Swirls - JIFThe oval was swapped out for a Deco Label in Real Red Cardstock. The 2¾” circle is from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock but was first stamped in Crumb Cake Classic Ink with a stamp from the Postage Due Stamp Set. Both were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals with White Candy Dots completing the label after sponging.

Mojo339 - Hello Lovely - JIFFor the sentiment after stamping in Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink a stamp from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set, I cut it down, sponged it, then added it to a piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock cut slightly bigger and also sponged. The two triangles were cut from a scrap from the Fresh Prints DSP Stack.

Card Recipe
Cardstock: Natural Ivory, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Coastal Cabana
Stamp Sets: Spiral Swirls, Postage Due, {Hello, Lovely}
Classic Ink: Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana
DSP: Fresh Prints Stack
Framelits: Deco Labels, Circles
Punch: 3/16″ Corner
Embellishments: Naturals Candy Dots, Basic Metal Buttons, Linen Thread
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Big Shot, Stick Strip,
Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sponges, Stampin’ Scrub & Mist

It’s a Mojo Soho kind of Monday!

Another Monday, another wonderful sketch from the very talented ladies over at the Mojo Monday Blog. This is this week’s sketch…

Mojo334Sketch

This is my take on the sketch and as you can see I have taken my masculine challenge very seriously this time, lol! 🙂 The card base is Very Vanilla Cardstock with Soho Subway DSP on the top section sponged in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. A strip of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the two cogs from the Clockworks Stamp Set stamped-off in Crumb Cake Classic Ink which was also sponged around the edges before being adhered to the card.

Mojo 334 -Soho Goose - JIFThe bottom section consists of the three colors of  Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Suede Card Stock which I glued to a piece of scratch paper then ran through the Big Shot with the Stripes Embossing Folder. This was all then finished off with three Very Vanilla Candy Dots.

Mojo 334 - monochrome embossed stripsInstead of a scalloped circle I chose to use a die from the Window Frames Collection first in the Early Espresso Cardstock then the smaller one in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto both of these die-cuts I used stamps from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. “You make me happy” was stamped over the entirety of the Very Vanilla Cardstock with one additional one stamped on another piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock which with Stampin’ Dimensionals was then placed in the middle of the other Very Vanilla Cardstock.

Mojo334 - close up tage and sentimentThree of Hubby’s Stripped Goose Feathers from his fly fishing was added as the final touch!

CARD RECIPE
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar,
Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets: Clockworks, Hello, Lovely
Classic Ink: Crumb Cake
DSP: Soho Subway
Embossing Folder: Strips
Die Cuts: Window Frames Collection
Embellishments: Very Vanilla Candy Dots
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Big Shot,
Sponges, Sticky Strip, Multipurpose Liquid Glue,
Anywhere Glue Stick, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Other: Stripped Goose Feathers (thanks Hubby!)

Tweaking Thanks!

Earlier in the week I had a few spare moments, I know weird huh, but I had put aside a couple of hours for a lunch out with friends which was postponed hence found myself with some glorious “unplanned” hours.

As I sat and pondered how blessed we are this Christmas it occurred to me that some Christmas Thank You Cards are a must. This is what I came up with.

Joyful Christmas Thankyou - Red White Silver Card - JIF

Enough I hear you shout of the embossed Joyful Christmas flower on the vellum but hey, I love it don’t you? Plus, look what I did with the combination of thankful and merry Expressions Thinlit Dies – I created thanks. There is no ‘S’ in any of the three words hence needed to create one.

Hmmm, that tested the old grey matter and after only one false start, discovered if the Silver Foil was placed upside-down onto the second ‘R’ in merry which was then turned upside-down once created, a ‘S’ is born. It does the job.

Joyful Christmas Thankyou - Red White Silver - JIFAnd who would have thought that a Raspberry Ripple In-Color Dahlias in the center of the flower would finish it of so well?

Snowflakes on Soft Skies!

Posted on

I am NOT going to admit to how long I have had my Festive Flurry Bundle before using it for the first time this week but I am willing to admit that I am now wondering how I EVER lived without it, lol! 🙂

With only 29 days until Christmas, here’s the first Christmas miracle of the season so I hope you’re sitting down for it… my Mojo Monday is actually being posted on a Monday, I know, crazy huh?! Anyways, this is this week’s sketch…

Mojo 321 Sketch

Today’s card came about so quickly that it actually scared me with not only the speed in which I created but as to how much I really like the end result. If only I had a French Horn so I could blow it, lol! Without further ado here’s my take on the sketch…

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - JIF

On my base of Whisper White I did the smallest border of Soft Sky cardstock around my Winter Frost Specialty DSP. What I’ve used here is the reverse of the same sheet if that makes sense. The next layer was the smallest border of Silver Foil around the Soft Sky cardstock which I embossed with a silver snow-flake from the Warmth & Wonder Hostess Stamp Set.

The layer upon this was the smallest border of Whisper White around Silver Foil. This foil I fully intended to dry emboss with Perfect Polka Dots but was interrupted with a trip to the hospital with Girl Child for vaccinations so forgot, oops! The final layer is a snowflake from the Snow Flurry set which I heat embossed with Iridescent Ice on Whisper White cardstock (sadly though the sparkle isn’t showing on these photos) before cutting it with the corresponding framelit.

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - Embossed Layers - JIF

After I’d adhered all the layers on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I added to the snowflake two of my current favorites from the Holiday Catalog, the Frosted Finishes Embellishments and the “Merry” from the Expressions Thinlits Dies in Silver Foil. LOVE THEM!!! To this I’ve silver embossed “Christmas” onto the DSP from the stamp set Sweet Essentials. This stamp set, if you don’t already have it, is fabulous as it all sentiments which cover many events plus they are quite a reasonable size which I like.

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - Merry - JIFYet again I felt like the Swedish chef from the Muppets with my “layer upon layer upon layer” and yes, I did say this to myself repeatedly with the accent over the course of the afternoon! 🙂
