What a day!

After much threatening I finally “sorted” the bedroom’s of Master Nine and Miss Seven this week-end. I foolishly started with Miss Seven’s  room thinking it would be the hardest room to put in order. However, it only took  four hours yesterday to knock into shape which was a wonderful surprise. Master Nine’s room today though… boy, that was ANOTHER story!

I went down at 12.30 this afternoon expecting it to be done in a matter of a couple of hours… HA, SEVEN HOURS LATER! Yep, I eventually emerged from his room at 7.30 this evening. I could not believe how much needed to be done. It was exhausting but my gosh, it really does look good now.

And so they should with an entire wheelie bin of garbage removed from these two rooms – no surprises to know I’ve created two little “paper people“. Plus there are three boxes and  one large gar-bag in the back of the car ready for the charity shop plus there are three  boxes for storage of keepsake items. Talk about a good purge!

But before my battery completely expires on my laptop, here’s an encore performance from a card we did for the technique class regarding SU! pastels. This card bids a Fond Farewell to Colour #22 – Lavender Lace. This is another of those colours I’ll be sad to see go as there is nothing similar to this in the new catty. Time to place an order I’d say!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!

Fond Farewell… Colour #6

Posted on

Wow, where does the day go? Unbelievably we were at school nice and early this morning, and even with a chat to one teacher, a drop-off at another class room, and an exchange of library books, I will still down into the studio with my pot of coffee by 9am… man, I was impressed!

I was even more impressed with the fact that I was able to work right through until I needed to head back to school. I ticked off what I had to in the morning, then I needed a card and even this  I managed a head start on. I know, I know… shock horror, but wait there’s more. The biggest pot of soup in simmering on the stove whilst containers of curry and strog are sitting in the fridge, and Donald’s birthday cake is in the pantry. Oh, and we had chocolate muffins for supper.

But dang it, I fell asleep then before I could tell you about the Fond Farewell to Colour #6Taken with Teal. This is a very in your face colour but it is gorgeous. Just so happens I chose this colour with one of my cards last month for my Technique class which was water-colouring, sponging and reverse sponging. This card was water-colouring.

For the sponging and reverse sponging I did almost the same card so the full effect of these different techniques could be appreciated. Now, I don’t deny for a moment that in comparison to what else is out there, these cards are a tad simplistic but when I was designing the three of these cards I felt it better to focus on the actual technique rather then how evolved it all could become. This was left to the individual.

So on saying that… the sun rose

 … and the sun set…

As I said, it’s a very Asian feel!

Another month is almost upon us…

Posted on

so before it’s actually here, here is a glimpse of what we’ll be doing this week in my Technique Tuesday/Technique Thursday Class (Tuesday 1st – 9.30-11.30am and Thursday 3rd – 7-9pm). This month I’m focusing on the Stampin’ Pastels.

These are something I have to admit, if they hadn’t been a compulsory purchase in my SU Kit,I would never have bought them but THANK GOODNESS I DIDI LOVE THEM!!!

This month I’ve highlighted three different styles within this one technique. One is to make the SU! pastels POP with Versamark; a second is to use the dauber to sponge the chalk directly onto the card-stock then  from this create a wonderful lattice effect; and the last one is utilising the pastels to create a water colour effect. All very different yet all as effective as the other!

Please remember, numbers are limited in these classes so should you be interested in learning more about this wonderful technique, please contact me soon to confirm your place. Also, should these dates NOT be convenient for you, should you have at least another two friends interested in attending, a class can be arranged at a time convenient to the both of us!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!
