Just Thinking!

Posted on

This is the name of one of my  “go-to” stamps at the moment – I just love it. It’s a single stamp currently available in the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog (which concludes next Friday… just saying) that also happens to co-ordinate with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies which were thankfully carried over from the Holiday Catalog for those of us who “forgot” to buy them then, phew!

Anyways, back to Just thinking, what can I say, I simply love it for its versatility.

Just Thinking Stamp

Without even thinking, my cards tend to become “girlie” so I set the challenge for myself today to make this card “masculine“!

Inkee Fiddlings - Just Thinking - Summer Starfruit

The base of the card is the beautiful Summer Starfruit Card-stock matched with Early Espresso and the retiring Night Quite Navy. I’ve cut free-hand around the circle and also removed the word FRIEND from the sentiment to keep in with the masculine theme. I gently rolled the cut edge of the circle around on the ink pad then sponged it to help “even out” my cutting.

Inkee Fiddlings - Not quite Navy - Thinking of You

Although I’m not a girlie-girl myself, I do have a habit of putting ribbon on my cards and as this challenge was for a masculine card what I’ve done is gathered up strips of DSP to create a ribbon like effect. To help create the folds as I’ve inherited my father’s fingers (short and stubby) I utilized the new Paper-Piercing Tool from the current IB&C (p.181). The paper ribbon wasn’t enough I felt so added a strip of Summer Starfruit which I had paper snipped the entire length. (Not sure where the color went, with or without bright lights it remained washed out, bizarre…)

As you can see from the bottom right-hand corner above, I also spritzed the card with Early Espresso to give the base more depth.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Just Thinking
Card-stock: Summer Starfruit, Early Espresso, Not Quite Navy
Classic Ink: Night Quite Navy
DSP: Print Poetry

Scallop Edge Border Punch, 3/16″ Corner Punch

Next time I’ll show you my girlie card with this stamp. Now, for the sake of repeating myself, DON’T FORGET FRIDAY 31 MAY, is the last day for ordering from the Spring Catalog.

So if you haven’t already added this stamp or the DSP to your collection and would like to, CALL ME NOW (250-632-7248), and remember for all orders over $50 before 1 June, you’ll receive the new 2013-2014 Idea Book and Catalog.

Five Minute Friday!

Posted on

Come the end of the week it’s good to feel as if one has accomplished something doesn’t it?! So I had a ponder…

This turned out to be a far easier task than first thought as all I had to do was look at my table as I held my whisper white card-stock. There’s something to be said for we who find it hard to throw out anything!

Inkee Fiddlings - Kindness Matters - Five Minute Friday

How quick and painless is this – tuck a couple of branches from the Bird Builder Punch in the retiring Mustard Card-stock under a left-over strip of the Print Poetry DSP on the right-hand side.

Then in the center of a die-cut flower in Raspberry Ripple Card-stock place a Designer Builder Brad with a Large Rhinestone Basic Jewel in the center. To finish-off add some Dazzling Details (if I refer to Dazzling Diamonds this is what I’m talking about) around the Rhinestone Jewel and the lower edge of the leaves. Then in Raspberry Ripple Ink stamp Kindness Matters. Ta dah!

Inkee Fiddlings - Poetry From the Heart

Honestly, it may take you only five minutes but I think it looks so much more. Enjoy your long week-end!

Oh, Hello!

Posted on

There’s no denying it, when I first went through the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog, the Oh, Hello Stamp Set was not a set that jumped out of me. It just didn’t seem like me I suppose but

Oh, Hello Clear Stamp Set

I looked at it again last week whilst preparing for a workshop and it really tweaked my interest as you can see. Especially with the 5/8″ Vanilla Flower Trim that is also in the Spring Catty. Use on mass or singularly as I’ve done here (not that you can really see unfortunately).

Oh, Hello - Primrose Pink with Jewels

The next card is the same… but different. I used four of the five current In-Colors to color the pattered arrows to create yet another effect on this card. These Paper Doilies in the Spring Catty are also a new fav of mine!

Oh, Hello - Colored Arrows and ScallopDot Ribbon PunchIt’s a very clean set and once I began playing with it, there were so many possibilities. I even used the rose as a background (with a hint of Dazzling Diamonds of course!).

Oh, Hello - Primrose Pink Rose Background

I love the 1-1/4″ Two Tone Ribbons that are also on offer in the Spring Catty. There are two to choose from – Pink Pirouette/Rose and Basic Gray/Basic Black. The Basic Gray/Basic Black is what I chose on the following card along with spritzing the Whisper White Card-stock with Rich Razzleberry. Just a few drop from the Ink Refills and you’ve quickly created a beautiful new background.

Oh, Hello - Spritzing with a Single Rose

There are even more cards I made but as I forgotten how to photograph cards (these are scanned) I’ll leave those for another occasion.

The Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog, like their Idea Book & Catalog, finishes May 31 so if there’s anything that you are interested in, now would be the time to contact me with an order as time is disappearing quickly!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!
