Scrapbooks in Motion…

Posted on

Last night I achieved my goal of having all the months for 2013 completed leaving today to “simply” construct the front and back pages then write and print off all the journaling. That’s all, yet here I sit mid-afternoon and I am still working on the front pages, oops!

Thank goodness I had at least cleared all the tables in the Studio for the boys to make fishing fly’s as this allowed me two tables to work on simultaneously. Not that it necessarily made me quicker but at least I could feed my thoughts as I went. This was the table on the left side.

And this was the table on the right…

It’s slowly coming together and I have to say, I’m actually rather pleased with the end results but me being me keeps looking at the calendar and thinking that by now I should have all my DSP and Cardstock chosen for the 2014 albums with the page bases actually constructed.

Seriously, why do I set such HIGH expectations for myself? Hmmm, maybe it’s because we’re already more than a quarter of the way through the year and for once I’d like to be working in “conjunction” with time, instead of against it. Doesn’t that sound grown up, lol?!

Then again, it could simply be that I have SIX HOLIDAYS to scrap sooner rather than later. Yep, somehow I think that’s more likely my incentive so please excuse me as I do believe 2013 is calling! 🙂

June’s Stamp Set – REETINGS!

Actually, this month’s stamp set is called GREETINGS but it would appear that my printer chewed off the first 1/2″ off the flyer when printing it… lol 🙂 Not to worry however as all the important details, that is what the stamps are like, are there!

Where’s my MOJO ?!

Posted on

Not quite sure what’s going on with me at the moment but there always seems to be a reason NOT to be heading down into the Studio. Which is really sad when you consider I treated myself to a LOT of pre-order products from the new 2013-14 Idea Book and Catalog and want to do a lot MORE ordering… aaaahhhh!

So what’s a girl to do when her Mojo’s low? Check out Mojo Monday of course and I have to say, I’m rather chuffed with the end result!

Mojo 296 - Thinking of You

This is the sketch from Mojo Monday for this week.

Mojo296Sketch

Having printed off the sketch, I knew I wanted a patterned paper as my base so immediately went to the new Gingham Garden to find something. As soon as I saw this DSP with its wonderful colors I knew it would be the one as it seemed the perfect excuse to finally attempt the ribbon wrap flowers. The Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petals 3/8″ Satin Ribbon did the job beautifully as the stripes in the ribbon came out almost like spots!

Mojo 296 - Thinking of You - Ribbon Flower

All these lovely flowers needed a butterfly of course. Papillon Potpourri is my go-to stamp-set choice at present as it has a co-ordinating stamp for each the Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly Punch. LUV IT!!! Naturally I couldn’t resist adding some Pearl Basic Jewels and Dazzling Details and have it sitting on a 1-1/4″ Circle Scallop which I’ve also added a little dazzle too!

Mojo 296 - Thinking of you - Butterfly

The sentiment I chose is from the Hostess Set Express Yourself. I think is going to be my “go-to” sentiment set for this summer as there are 12 sentiments to choose from. Now I’m not sure if you noticed in the first photograph but on this strip of Very Vanilla cardstock I’ve used a stamp from the Clockworks set and stamped it off in the Pistachio Pudding to take away the starkness of the Very Vanilla.

Mojo 296 - Thinking of you - Sentiment

Well, I may not have completely found my Mojo but it feels a lot closer than it did earlier!

Upsy Daisy…

Posted on

this has to be one of my favourite sets from the current Stampin’ Up Idea & Catalogue Book. I have seen this set used in just so many ways and it always looks fabulous! On this card for hubby’s mum, I have done battle with my Taken with Teal ink pad, and yes it was a battle trust me!

Ever since I bought it (from a friend hence no returns…) it’s always looked more like Night of Navy so this week I was taking no prisoners and on more then one piece of scrap paper I just squished and squeezed that ink pad until something resembling Taken with Teal revealed itself. I do love the colour but given it has only a few more months before retirement, I’m not losing any sleep over this dilemma with the ink pad. But I digress, here it is… (and yes, I promise in future when scanning this cards on white backgrounds, to put a dark background behind it for easier viewing!)

Before I digressed, I was going to say that I also used some of the Urban Garden DSP which is what influenced my use of Taken with Teal. What I also tried for the first time was pressing the stamp into the embossing powder once heated instead of embossing the image after stamping with Versamark. This stamp set – SU’s Dreams du Jour – has always appealed to me but has always remained on my wish list.

So imagine my delight whilst visiting a friend yesterday, as she went through her stamping supplies looking for a suitable set to use on a teenagers card, she pulled out this one. I have no shame… me please, me please! Needless to say I was a tad excited when I arrived home yesterday with this set under my arm but knew I had to work on my birdhouse and this card so put it aside. But things happen for a reason don’t they…

I’ve had this Upsy Daisy card sitting to the side all week, simply waiting to be assembled but something wasn’t quite right hence my hesitance in assembling. Where I now have the what looks like the Faux Metal “Dreams” embellishment, I had a metal Happy Birthday on a punched out tag. It looked fine but obviously deep down I knew it wasn’t quite right then as I commenced assembling this morning… voila… I knew exactly what had to be done and this was it! Hope you like it
