Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Posted on

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to one and all! I find as my children become older, the emphasis on things changes… for example Mother’s Day. All week there have been mutterings behind cupped hands as to what was being made at school and where things were being hid once home. It was all quiet exciting really!

Gosh, it was only last year my son couldn’t get into the kitchen fast enough to come up with the most wonderful mother’s day breakfast a mother and lover of the BIG BREAKFAST could ever dream of. This year, even though as soon as his eyes were open he was singing me Happy Mother’s Day and telling me that the cat was purring the same (how sweet is that?!), that was that. The things hidden in his room, well, I’ve yet to see them, and as for breakfast… “muuuuum, what are we having for breakfast?”

But hey, I’m onto my second pot of coffee, am still in my pj’s, and have George on the TV screen so I’m not complaining. I even dreamt about George last night… only I could dream about George Clooney giving me aperture lessons for my camera… geez! Plus, we’re meeting my parents shortly for a lovely lunch up at Harry’s so it’s all good.

Besides, the hubster did give  me two gift vouchers last week-end from the children to ensure I received EXACTLY what I wanted so tomorrow I shall go shopping to see just what it is that my life is incomplete without. And he did ever so kindly give me a set of alphabet dies for my BIG SHOT which I am soooooooo excited about and have barely been able to wait to use them. Tomorrow is going to be one busy day!

I see time is ticking so I’d best get showered and changed but before I go here is what I’ve done for my mother this year. This is the card which I am EVER so proud of. As I’ve said before, embellishments are my weakness so has been something I’ve really had to challenge myself with since joining Stampin’ Up! but as you can see, I think I’m doin’ okay. I’m simply making my embellishments now rather then reaching for a packet which may seem expensive but when you see how may embellishments I’ve bought over time and NOT used, I think the new way is working out far more economical as I make what I need when I need it! So here ’tis, this one is A5 but I did one recently for a neighbour in A6 which was just as effective…

Now, as for the packaging all I did was “tweak” a brown paper bag I had on hand. Once again, I’m rather chuffed at my first effort. In hindsight I would have lowered the DSP I used but hey, it was my first time. And in hindsight if I’d matched the papers to the card it may have been even more of an impact… next time!

Once again Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

Are there EVER enough hours in the day?

Posted on

I’m trying a new thing this month, if I can’t get everything done that I had hoped (read: listed on my “to do” list please) to have done that day I no longer stay up until the wee hours, or all night as has been the case on the odd occasion, I just acknowledge that I have done what I have done and there will be a tomorrow for the rest…

Now I know that is the way most people work but I’m finding it ever so difficult as there is always something that needs doing each day without carrying over things from the previous day. I often find I’m questioning myself as to why I’m doing this, does it really matter? Then I find my body finding it harder to keep up with my mind, or is that my mind keeping up with my body, then I know… something MUST be done!

What I’m also attempting to do is get my body clock back to the way it was before children came into our lives. I used to always be an early riser but as the years roll around I find myself working at the opposite end of the clock hence sleeping in later. These days I have two off-siders who believe that if I’m staying up late then they too should be staying up late hence the need to wake a few hours earlier to get into my day then into bed the same time as the children. The theory is good but I fear the practice is going to take a little while but do stay tuned!

Last night my darling little man had a sleep-over at a mates place and wasn’t to be picked up until late this afternoon. This meant Mini Me and I could create all day… after a sleep-in of course… and after lying in bed eating our bowls of dry Nutragrain… utter decadence… it was just delightful!

Do you like what my day produced? I can’t take all the credit as one of the very talented ladies on ESAD (whose name I cannot find now, nor can I even find the card on the web again so believe forgive for I have looked!) gave me the idea of dressing up Tess after seeing her beautiful card of Tess in an evening frock. Whilst searching for the original I did come across some other examples of Tess which have given me some grand ideas… of, if only there were more hours in the day… but then again, I suppose I’d only spend more time cleaning up my art table. If only a self-cleaning table could be developed, oh the hours it would save me!

I’m very proud of this effort but darling Miss Six still can’t get over the fact that it took me FIVE HOURS to produce only THAT! She didn’t take into account the hour it took me to tidy up from my efforts yesterday and locate the paints she needed or the sandwiches to wanted. She didn’t take into the account the hour I spent doing our accounts, or the other hour I spent look for the original on the web and looking for the kittens, but even after reminding her of these facts I still heard her telling her brother… “this took mummy FIVE HOURS to make – can you believe it?” Thank you support crew 😉 !

Anyways, I must remember it’s the new me so best head to bed before I become distracted with another idea that take me five hours!

Where did that week go?

Posted on

Never ceases to amaze me how quickly the week goes once we get through Tuesday! I’ve always had a problem with Tuesday’s for some weird reason. I can remember at my very first job, the other receptionist would come in all hung-over on a Monday whereas I would arrive bouncing regardless of the week-end but come Tuesday… my goodness… yes very peculiar but true!

One thing I am very proud of though this week was that I finally returned a set of stamps to my upline. Steph lent me this set BEFORE Easter but even though the set was ready to be returned after Easter, do you think I could do it? Nope! But this week I had it in the post so YEA ME!

Of course though I couldn’t simply put the stamp set in the post so I did a tag for the outside. What do you think?
