Scattered Seasons

Posted on

For this week’s “2-4-Tuesday” I’ve used the Seasonally Scattered Stamp Set from the Holiday Catalog. These stamps practically make the cards themselves as they are so big, and definitely BEAUTIFUL! The first card I made was using the “thanks” stamp.

Originally my intention was to heat emboss the card but on seeing how lovely the Versamark worked on the Always Artichoke Cardstock, decided to leave it. The Color Me Autumn DSP creates the smallest of frames around the cardstock with Sahara Sand Candy Dots completing it.

Seasonally Scattered - Thanks - JIF

For the second card I used the “love” stamp. This could be a jump-start on Valentine’s Day or perhaps even a wedding card. If using it as a wedding card, if you knew the color of the bridesmaids you could use that as your base color!

Chalk Talk Grunge!

Posted on

On seeing this week’s Mojo Monday sketch, I knew there would be no hesitation on this one as I wanted to use Cajun Craze Cardstock as the background. To this was stamped Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Cajun Craze Classic Ink which I used to also sponge the edges.

When this color was first introduced to Stampin’ Up! I couldn’t get enough of it but hadn’t touched it again until today. Today I used it as not only the background for my card but for the shapes/accents as well!

Mojo 341 - Chalktalk Grunge - Cajun Craze - JIFThis is the sketch…

Mojo341SketchMatching colors with Cajun Craze Cardstock can sometimes be interesting but as you can see on this occasion I simply went with Champagne Glimmer Paper and Gold Foil which was run through the Dots Embossing Folder. The Gold Foil I also sponged with Gold Encore Ink.

The shapes/accents were Heat Embossed with Gold Embossing Powder – the square I stamped with Versamark the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set, the circle stamped with the Chalk Talk Stamp Set. The Gold Foil circle was cut with a Circle Framelit as I wanted only a HINT of a border, not a lot of gold.

Mojo Monday

Posted on

It would appear I left more than my jeans in Vancouver last week as my Mojo appears to have slipped under the hotel bed also I fear! 🙁

Here is this week’s Mojo Monday sketch which is Tall and Skinny – which is so NOT me. I’m finding this size so extremely difficult to work with. Hence the reason it’s now Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and I’m only just getting there…

Mojo 339 SketchI took one look at this on Monday after printing it off and put it straight back down again; Tuesday I did everything BUT look at it; Wednesday I spent the ENTIRE day alternating between looking at the sketch and looking at Robert Downey Jr (the latter seemingly holding my attention longer…) and then there’s today. This is what I finally came up with and have decided in future no matter what the title, I’m sticking with what I know best – short and squat, lol! Mojo339 - Fresh Prints - JIF

Originally I was going with Whisper White as my base but after three days when I FINALLY changed to the Natural Ivory Cardstock, all was better with the world. For the DSP I chose two from the Fresh Prints Stack, sponging them in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. For the embellishments I went with three Basic Metal Buttons from the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog finished with Linen Thread.

Mojo339 - Metal Buttons - JIFYou may or may not be able to see on the base of the card in VersaMark are Spiral Swirl Stamps to add texture to the base, carrying through with the circles from the bike.

Mojo339 - Sprial Swirls - JIFThe oval was swapped out for a Deco Label in Real Red Cardstock. The 2¾” circle is from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock but was first stamped in Crumb Cake Classic Ink with a stamp from the Postage Due Stamp Set. Both were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals with White Candy Dots completing the label after sponging.

Mojo339 - Hello Lovely - JIFFor the sentiment after stamping in Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink a stamp from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set, I cut it down, sponged it, then added it to a piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock cut slightly bigger and also sponged. The two triangles were cut from a scrap from the Fresh Prints DSP Stack.

Card Recipe
Cardstock: Natural Ivory, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Coastal Cabana
Stamp Sets: Spiral Swirls, Postage Due, {Hello, Lovely}
Classic Ink: Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana
DSP: Fresh Prints Stack
Framelits: Deco Labels, Circles
Punch: 3/16″ Corner
Embellishments: Naturals Candy Dots, Basic Metal Buttons, Linen Thread
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Big Shot, Stick Strip,
Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sponges, Stampin’ Scrub & Mist

Flowering Flourishes in the Garden!

Posted on

You know it’s Monday when you see one of the wonderful sketches from Mojo Monday appearing in your in-box. This is today’s sketch..

Mojo 336 - what will YOUR card look like?

For something a little different this week I went with a square card – this is it.

Mojo 336 - Flowering Flourishes in the Garden - JIF

This piece of DSP had been sitting on my table all week so decided today would be the perfect opportunity to utilize it. My base card was Very Vanilla Cardstock, onto this went Early Espresso Cardstock which had been stamped with Flowering Flourishes in Versamark then sponged in Early Espresso Classic Ink.  The Soho Subway DSP edges were sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink before lengths of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim was added then adhered to the Early Espresso Cardstock.

Mojo 336 - Flowering Flourishes - stamping

Instead of two circles I chose to do one of the Deco Labels Framelits in Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock which I sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink. To this I added a 2-¾” Circle cut from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto this I stamped-off one of the Flowering Flourishes stamps in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. The sentiment from Sassy Salutations was stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink and in hindsight should have been placed more to the top instead of being centered. Oh well. At the time though I wasn’t going to add flowers!

From the Secret Garden Framelits in Pistachio Pudding Core’dinations four stems of leaves were cut and sponged VERY lightly with Crumb Cake Classic Ink. Onto this was added a single Flower Shop stamp in Crumb Cake Classic Ink onto Crumb Cake Cardstock then punched with the Pansy Punch. A Large Pearl Basic Jewel was added to the center of the flower.

Tweaking Thanks!

Posted on

Earlier in the week I had a few spare moments, I know weird huh, but I had put aside a couple of hours for a lunch out with friends which was postponed hence found myself with some glorious “unplanned” hours.

As I sat and pondered how blessed we are this Christmas it occurred to me that some Christmas Thank You Cards are a must. This is what I came up with.

Joyful Christmas Thankyou - Red White Silver Card - JIF

Enough I hear you shout of the embossed Joyful Christmas flower on the vellum but hey, I love it don’t you? Plus, look what I did with the combination of thankful and merry Expressions Thinlit Dies – I created thanks. There is no ‘S’ in any of the three words hence needed to create one.

Hmmm, that tested the old grey matter and after only one false start, discovered if the Silver Foil was placed upside-down onto the second ‘R’ in merry which was then turned upside-down once created, a ‘S’ is born. It does the job.

Joyful Christmas Thankyou - Red White Silver - JIFAnd who would have thought that a Raspberry Ripple In-Color Dahlias in the center of the flower would finish it of so well?
