Don’t you just LOVE the rain?!?!

Posted on

Our little creek certainly does – the water has been gushing down it for days now! It has NOT let up, not even a little bit. It’s either a general rage or a thunderous roar. To think, this time last year we were excited by a mere trickle… oh how things change (lol)!

This is how it looked this morning from our top deck when, just for the briefest moment, a ray of sunshine broke through! It has reached the point with the noise of the creek that Master Nine moves himself into the spare bed during the middle of the night in an attempt to escape the sound of the rushing water. (His bedroom is underneath this deck so he is rather close to the action you may say!)

Oddly though, I normally find wet weather the most conducive for working in the Studio but given it’s almost cyclonic conditions outside I find myself simply sitting, watching the weather unfold outside. However, I have managed a little bit of a fiddle. How’s this one for quick yet effective?!

It would appear the Style Beautiful stamp set is one of my new favourites, along with the Perfect Punches stamp set. These two work so wonderfully together, as do the Soft Suede and Crumb Cake. Simplicity, you gotta love it!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!

Go on… ask me why I was late collecting the children yesterday!

Posted on

You know how we all receive those emails stating that perceptions of those living overseas of Australia are of kangaroos hopping down the main street? Well, it happened to me yesterday on our street. And of course it was one of the few times I DIDN’T have my phone with me to click off a couple of pics as proof!

There I was, the car just gathering speed to climb up the hill to meet the main road and voila, two lovely big grey kangaroos were sitting on the road, giving me the look that said, “do you mind, we were here first?” The best part was that there were no cars behind me so I could sit and watch in wonder as they simply sat in the middle of the road before eventually hopping up the hill.

I told the children on our way  home so we had a bit of an investigate to see where they possibly could have gone. I have seen them before hopping through the bush beside our house but once they cross the road it is a bit of a drop from the footpath down to the bush below which is probably why we don’t see them much in our “urban rain forest”.

Each day I give thanks for our little “urban rain forest” – there’s the obvious delight of having no immediate neighbours but more importantly we have so many different birds visiting, all having their particular “time slot” during the day. The morning begins with the Cat Bird – I’m sure there is another name but it tells you what sound this bird makes – these love the rising sun. Then along come the Parakeets, followed by the Whip Birds, then off and on during the day is the chorus of kookaburras having a chuckle, along with many others I have yet to learn their names. I love it!

But back to business, let’s bid a Fond Farewell to Colour #25 – Close to Cocoa. This was the first colour to run out when Stampin’ Up! announced it’s retirement. No surprise there as it is a beautiful rich colour without being overly dense hence the reason I didn’t do very much at all to this card. Dry Embossing and Layering… so simple, too easy!

Don’t forget to contact me before Tuesday August 31 if there is anything on the Last Chance List  you would like me to order… I can’t believe how quickly September 1 is coming around and the release of the beautiful new catalogue!

What does the sea say to the sand?
Not much, it mostly waves…

This time next week!!!

Posted on

Wow… I can’t believe it… this time next week, Stampin’ Up! will have had the ordering lines open for one whole day for the brand spanking new 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue. You can’t half tell I’m an eager beaver to order can you… I actually had plans to set the alarm for 2am September 1st so I could place my order but I’m just going to have to wait until midday Wednesday as the ordering system need to be changed for this new catalogue!

Don’t forget though, if you’d like a copy of the new catalogue, I have them available RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW  for just $10  (normally $12.95) if you’d like to “pop” in and begin making your “Wish List“. It maybe a good idea to call before hand though to ensure I’m not on a school run and that I do in-fact have a copy still available for you!

Which means however, there is just ONE MORE WEEK to order from the current catalogue , so if there was something you’ve be wanting that is no longer going to be available this time next week, and don’t forget those fabulous extra discounted items, call me NOW!!!

Today it’s a Fond Farewell to Colour #24 – Glorious Green. (Yes, I went a tad wonky with my numbering but I think I’ve sorted it…).

I stamped all over the card-stock with the beautiful stamp set “Kindred Spirits” which sadly is also retiring. (I use this stamp set so often as a background it’s just brilliant – the state of my wood block with testify how much use it receives!) The belly band I did in the same colour cardstock with a strip of Whisper White down the center of this then added punched stamp to this. I have to say I was rather chuffed at the end result. If you aren’t already on my mail-out list and would like to be, please email me your postal details.

If a snake and an undertaker were married, what would they inscribe on their towels?
Hiss and Hearse
