Pretty Pink (Freshly Made Sketches #301)

Posted on

My good intentions for completing one or two cards during the week, at my leisure, are once again out the window as here it is Sunday afternoon with the clock ticking. Therefore without further ado, this is my card.

And this is the original 301 sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. As you can see, I rotated my card to stand upright. Landscape just wasn’t working for me today.

Isn’t the pink foil on kraft cardstock¬†just the nicest? It’s a fabulous DSP package that’s available in the current annual catalog from Stampin’ Up!

Remember, you can always order from me if you’d like to add some to your stash… I’m only to happy to help!😆

How is it that I went almost TWO YEARS without realizing how fabulous Summer Starfruit and Rich Razzleberry look together?

Language of Love - Stary Summerfruit - JIFEven going for a more masculine look works with this stamp set.

language of Love - Soho Summerfruit - JIFAnd naturally the set lends itself to an anniversary or wedding card. For this next card I combined both dry and heat embossing for quite the stunning result with more of my left-over Silver Glimmer Strips!

Where my week went…

Posted on

It’s official, I’m admitting defeat on this week – after having Boy Child home today with possible tonsillitis (which it isn’t as my poor neighbors can attest to now), then forgetting that with Easter just days away the refrigerator required restocking so there went the morning with grocery shopping and unpacking, and oh yes, the Easter Bunny had yet to shop, well… I gave up!

However, given the late hour I’m now able to post the card I spent Tuesday creating for a lovely lady who retired today from the project Darling Hubby is working on. I’m happy with the card but seriously, an entire day AND night… what the? Talk about bad head-space!

Happy Retirement dear lady!

Not sure why the colors are so muted in this photo, perhaps it has something to do with the fact it was almost midnight by the time I was happy with it all and took this photo.

The card base was Whisper White Cardstock with Wisteria Wonder Cardstock as the main layer, onto that went Silver Glimmer Paper to create a bright border around the Elegant Eggplant Cardstock onto which I added lime-green ribbon roses both above and below the DSP. The accessories were all pulled from “the stash”, lol. All hail the stash! ūüôā

Don’t you just love how it can take OVER a full working day to complete just ONE card? Imagine if we charged cards per the hours we spent on them? Yea right, like THAT’S going to happen, lol!

Anyways, I best bid you all a good-night and wish you and your families all the most wonderful Easter Break however, and whichever, way you celebrate.

Snowflakes on Soft Skies!

Posted on

I am NOT going to admit to how long I have had my Festive Flurry Bundle before using it for the first time this week but I am willing to admit that I am now wondering how I EVER lived without it, lol! ūüôā

With only 29 days until Christmas, here’s the first Christmas miracle of the season so I hope you’re sitting down for it… my Mojo Monday is actually being posted on a Monday, I know, crazy huh?! Anyways, this is this week’s sketch…

Mojo 321 Sketch

Today’s card came about so quickly that it actually scared me with not only the speed in which I created but as to how much I really like the end result. If only I had a French Horn so I could blow it, lol! Without further ado here’s my take on the sketch…

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - JIF

On my base of Whisper White I did the smallest border of Soft Sky cardstock around my Winter Frost Specialty DSP. What I’ve used here is the reverse of the same sheet if that makes sense. The next layer was the smallest border of Silver Foil around the Soft Sky cardstock which I embossed with a silver snow-flake from the Warmth & Wonder Hostess Stamp Set.

The layer upon this was the smallest border of Whisper White around Silver Foil. This foil I fully intended to dry emboss with Perfect Polka Dots but was interrupted with a trip to the hospital with Girl Child for vaccinations so forgot, oops! The final layer is a snowflake from the Snow Flurry set which I heat embossed with Iridescent Ice on Whisper White cardstock¬†(sadly though the sparkle isn’t showing on these photos) before cutting it with the corresponding framelit.

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - Embossed Layers - JIF

After I’d adhered all the layers on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I added to the snowflake two of my current favorites from the Holiday Catalog, the Frosted Finishes Embellishments and the “Merry” from the Expressions Thinlits Dies in Silver Foil. LOVE THEM!!! To this I’ve silver embossed “Christmas” onto the DSP from the stamp set Sweet Essentials. This stamp set, if you don’t already have it, is fabulous as it all sentiments which cover many events plus they are quite a reasonable size which I like.

Mojo 321 - Soft Sky Snow Flurry - Merry - JIFYet again I felt like the Swedish chef from the Muppets with my “layer upon layer upon layer” and yes, I did say this to myself repeatedly with the accent over the course of the afternoon! ūüôā

Another frame!

Posted on

I just couldn’t help myself! When a friend of ours celebrated the birth of her daughter I wanted to giver her something special so… created a frame similar to what I did for Miss Ten’s teacher. As the children would say, it’s the same but different.

Congratulations on the safe arrival of number 3!

I finally found an outlet that sold the frames which are perfect for these creations and was told they had a shipment about to be delivered. Hmmmm, that was three or four weeks ago so I guess I’d best make the call.

Don’t you hate it when you request a particular item from a retailer are then told, yes not only can they get it but they already have an order coming which is expected next week. You then ask if perhaps you should call to confirm the order’s arrival: No, they say, we’ll call you {smile} {smile}… and never a peep is heard.

This frustrates me no end as I do appreciate they are busy, heck, most of us are busy but if they know they’ll get side-tracked with other business then put the onus back onto me, make it MY responsibility as it’s what I want. I don’t mind, honestly!

Pinch and a Punch for the First Day of the Month…

Posted on

Plus the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming… aaahhhh, the first day of Spring. That was until the clouds blew in, the breeze became gusty, and the air… generally cold. Do you¬†ever¬†get the feeling real life¬†and¬†one’s perception are two TOTALLY different things?

On saying this though¬†that I must confess this morning was beautiful which worked brilliantly for Miss Seven’s and Master Nine’s Book Week celebrations on the oval. They had a hoot all dressed up – one as a witch, the other as the Hunchback of Notra Dame’s skeleton, and I as Big Red – Little Red Riding Hood’s big sister. See,¬†she was the one who should have been looking after Grandma when the wolf ate her but instead¬†had just stepped outside to “chat” to the woodsman about how big his axe was!

Another big event today was the official launch of the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue – how exciting! No more secrets, no more narrative – you can see it all for yourselves!¬†Whilst you are waiting for your own copy of the¬†new¬†catalogue, click on the picture of it just to the right¬†to scroll through the pages… as I’ve said before, it’s beautiful.

Now, don’t forget, I have the new catalogues¬†here for $10, or if you’d like one for nothing, simply book a workshop and not only will you receive a complimentary catalogue, but you will have the opportunity to earn free stamp sets and loads of free merchandise – too easy!

One of my “new” favourite stamp sets is Artistic Etchings – besides the wonderful Eiffel Tower, there is a fabulous circle stamp that I’ve used quite a bit already for backgrounds, along with¬†a key, crown, and others. Both the key and crown I’ve embossed in gold before cutting them out and adhering to the card. I’ve also¬†added small adhesive pearls to¬† both of these.

My dear friend ROC showed me this following  little darling a couple of weeks ago. Something so very useful with the silly season looming so quickly upon us Рa Gift Card Wallet!

¬†Open it up and you have this… how clever is this, the divided sections within¬†is simply an envelope that’s been halved!

Don’t you just love it!
