Shadow Stamping with the Stamparatus… by Jennifer Frost

Once-tricky stamping techniques are now a breeze with the brand new Stamparatus (item 146276), available in the new 2018–2019 annual catalog as of June 1! Take shadow stamping, for instance. Adding subtle, professional-looking shadowing to the bold “Sorry” in these projects was quick and easy with this new tool!
How did I do it? To start, I positioned a piece of cardstock to the top left of my Stamparatus and secured it with a magnet. Then I placed my stamp from the Sorry for Everything Stamp Set (item 143820) face down on the paper and closed the plate to pick up the stamp. I lifted the plate, added ink (tone on tone, the same color as the cardstock), and reclosed to stamp the word. Then I allowed the ink to dry.
TIP: I used my heat tool to ensure this first stamped layer was dry; this will be important afterward in achieving a clean, heat-embossed layer.
Next, I positioned the paper exactly where it was again, bringing it down from the top of the Stamparatus edge just a tiny bit, a few millimeters, as pictured.
Then I applied VersaMark ink (item 102283) to the stamp and closed the plate to re-stamp the word. I added White Stampin’ Emboss Powder (item 109132) and heat set with the Heat Tool (item 129053) to complete the technique.
One of the key benefits of the Stamparatus is you can stamp multiples of the same project quickly and precisely. While the stamp was all set up and ready to go, I couldn’t resist creating a full collection of these lovely shadowed sentiments.
I’ve paired these stamped panels with the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Papers (item 146926). Bows of Linen Thread (item 104199) added a little texture and I’ve layered in touches of shimmer by way of Pearlized Doilies (item 146936), strips of Gold (item 146958) or Silver (item 146960) Glimmer Paper, and swashes of Berry Burst (item 145489) or Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon (item 144146).
I hope you’ve enjoyed this set of cards and it encourages you to break out your Stamparatus and give a little shadow stamping of your own a try!

It’s a Wrap! (Fast Friday)

Posted on

This week’s featured stamp set, Heartfelt Blooms from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog, has been used to make some super quick yet still stunning wrapping paper with a quick tag to complete the set.

For this set I challenged myself to use the 2016-2018 In-Colour Sweet Sugarplum for the first time, stamping on the tissue paper with Classic Sweet Sugarplum Ink. For the tag stamping Sweet Sugarplum onto Sweet Sugarplum cardstock, finishing with Sugarplum Ribbon.

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!

Merry Christmas one and all!!!

Posted on

Albeit a very late, it still comes with all the wishes for a safe and happy holiday season sprinkled with much fun and frivolity!

I cannot believe where this last month has disappeared too! No sooner had I packed up from the second garage sale then I was up to my armpits with baking, packing for our week’s holiday which commenced the day after school finished, endeavouring to get all the shopping done BEFORE school was out, plus all the general froth and bubble that goes with day to day life in the lead up to Christmas anyways!

Another thing that kept me busy in that fortnight before school finished for the year was making four dozen Sour Cream Bags. This name is actually American and probably should be renamed “Frozen Samboy Bags” for here as I have yet to see any sour cream in these shaped bags in the Australian dairy cabinets.

These bags were in lieu of Christmas cards from the children to their class mates. Last year the children made their own cards. Yes I did design a card each for them to copy but what can I say, they are my children hence they nodded their heads in unison with a “yes mum” whilst all the while doing their own thing. Now who does that remind you of?!

No such luck this year though, their hearts were willing but their bodies weren’t able so it was left to me to cut, stamp and punch. Miss Seven did however sort the Christmas Tree marshmallows that went inside each of these little bags quite willingly and they both wrote up their own Christmas tags thankfully.

Both the paper and ribbon were last year’s stock from Stampin’ Up! I can highly recommend these bags should you need to use up any back-log of supplies you may have. I could have used even more paper but the Midas in me redid the sizing’s so I could get six bags instead of just the four out of one 12×12 – far more economical for mass makings!

The stamps however are both from the current Idea Book and Catalogue from Stampin’ Up! The Perfect Punch set I now leave in my kit as I continually reach for it when I need a basic sentiment that doesn’t look basic.W hat you can’t see from this picture is that I’ve in fact stamped Joy for Christmas twice – once in green, once in red – using my 1-1/4″ circle punch on one just for the sentiment then using dimensionals to adhere this circle then to the scallop punched out stamp.

As for the bauble stamp from the Delightful Decorations set, my gosh, how often did I use that in the last four weeks? All I can say is thank goodness my bauble punch was up to the challenge as at a rough guess I think I’ve used it at least 500 times… if not 600 times… at least!

Now for my joke I’ve been saving for months and now is really too late but never mind such minor details…

What is orange and says Ho Ho Ho?
FANTA Claus… ha ha ha
… oh go on, I know your smirking! 🙂

Here’s hoping you all had a wonderful Christmas whichever way you may have chosen to spend it, and are now bunkering down for one heck of a 2011!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!

The Lucky Last!

Posted on

Oh my gosh… talk about being on auto pilot… I’ve been awake since 3.30 this morning so now I keep falling asleep as I sit here attempting to write this so goodness knows if I’m going to make any sense but here ’tis, my last three colours on the Colour Renovation Chart.

Actually here are six of the retiring colours and DSP’s that I’ve used for Term 3’s thank you gifts for the teachers and the lovely ladies at the school office as I like them to know how much I appreciate their hard work each term. Beside the colours I’m highlighting below I’ve also used Barely Banana, Really Rust and Apricot Appeal.

These came about as I really wanted to make some notelets with the Big Shot Scallop Circle Die Cut but to simply put them into a box didn’t seem right so I made up a template of a hand-bag that would hold them. I made four notelets for each bag – two each of two designs. (And I’ve used one of the new punches from the 2010-2011 catty – can you spot it?)

Okay… here is  Fond Farewell to Colour #28 – Blush Blossom.

Here is a Fond Farewell to Colour #29 – Pale Plum.

Here is a Fond Farewell to Colour #30 – Orchid Opulence.

I’m really happy with how they turned out but I’ve dozed off so many times now I’m signing off as the alarm is already set for 4.30am as I need to make a dozen or two cupcakes before school tomorrow. Yes, seemed like a really good idea last week when I planned to make them then and there then put them into the freezer so I would be organised. As I’ve said before, just call me FOGI!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!

Two tidy rooms… too tired to think!

Posted on

It may have just been two rooms I sorted and rearranged but it feels as if I did the ENTIRE house! People think I’m just joking when I say I’m allergic to dust and mildew and the cleaning products that removes these things but I really am. So when I do do a major clean as I did just recently with the children’s bedrooms, the side effect is I feel as if I’m hung-over. Hence the reason I’m not the clean freak I used to be… and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! 🙂

As always of course, I had one or three things on my list to do yesterday but I sat on the couch on the pretense of “sorting buttons” and that’s where I stayed until it was school run time. Even now I’m still toying with the idea of “sorting more buttons” as my head is still swimming. But enough of my pity party!

Let’s bid a Fond Farewell to Colour #23 – Barely Banana. This colour goes exquisitely well with the chocolate chip and why wouldn’t it – chocolate and banana – yum. I can still taste the banana and nutella crepes that were being sold from little crepe stalls on the side-walks of Paris. I was so looking forward to sharing this treat with my family when we holidayed there a couple of years ago but alas, I don’t know if it was because it was off-season or what, they just weren’t there…

The pattern on both the Barely Banana  and the Chocolate chip was from the Illuminated Wheel which is… retiring! I think it’s safe to say if I like it, it’s retiring. Fortunately I’m too tired to get a complex about it! In the shoe I’ve put some delicious Lindt balls, and in the hand-bag are two hot chocolate sachets. Chocolate on chocolate – you have to like that!

Oh… I’ve just realised I don’t think I’ve mentioned these two items are this month’s “Off the Page” class – named Sex in the City. I take no credit for that title, this belongs to Juliette Chapman, one of the incredibly talented ladies from the ESAD group I belong to.

Should you and a friend be interested in this class, or any class for that matter, please contact me and we’ll arrange a time suitable to us both. I understand time is precious to us all so if a class time just doesn’t work for you, simply call me and I’m sure something can be arranged!

Joke of the Day:

What do you put into a box to make it lighter?
A hole of course!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!
