Lovin’ the Smooch Spritz!!!

Posted on

It’s not that I want to do but I really think I have to admit defeat on my Mojo Monday’s actually happening on a Monday! Yes, I know, for my own peace of mind I always back-date my blog so it shows Monday’s date but more often my Mojo happens on a Wednesday. I know I should accept this but for whatever reason, I’m not yet ready to accept it just yet. I’ll give it just one more week!

In the meantime however this is this weeks Mojo Monday sketch…

Mojo 319 SketchAnd here is my interpretation. Very quick, yet quite effective don’t you think? I’ve used a Whisper White card base and onto that have adhered Crumb Cake Cardstock but not before I gave it a good spritz with the Smooch. Ooooo, how I’m lovin’ the Smooch! I even spritzed the doily after I’d lightly sponged the edges with Crumb Cake Ink. And I’m not sure if you can see it, but I’ve also stamped stars onto the doily with the Illumination Glimmer Watermark Ink.

I punched a circle from one of Season of Style Designer Journaling Tags then ran the thick end of a Cherry Cobbler Marker around its edges before adding some Dazzling Diamonds. A ribbon of paper was cut from the Season of Style DSP Stack and before I added the ribbon of Season of Style Washi Tape which I mounted onto Whisper White cardstock to ensure its colors would pop!

And we’re back!!!

With no more of those darn Epic This and That pages you’ll be more than pleased to know but hey, you have to agree that they are a great “quick and easy” gift for loved ones. These albums really do dress up well and judging by orders, I’m not the only one with that way of thinking!

But enough of that, it’s meant to be Monday (even if the calendar says Friday, lol) so let’s do a Mojo Monday sketch. This is this week’s sketch…

Mojo 310 Sketch

This is my interpretation and once again, have endeavored and think succeeded, in making a masculine card. Well, my version of a masculine card anyways!

Mojo Monday 310 - Happy Big Day

I really did try to keep the layering down but I couldn’t help myself. I began with a base card in Early Espresso. Then with a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set I stamped with the Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stampin’ Pad to give that splattered look.

Onto this I added a Baked Brown Sugar layer, stamped again from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set, this time a smaller splotch, in Soft Suede Classic Ink, sponging the edges also in the Soft Suede Classic Ink. Then with Natural Ivory cardstock dry embossed it with the Honeycomb Folder, edging also with Soft Suede Classic Ink.

My Lovely Layering

Then onto these layers I wrapped some of the Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine horizontally then added an arrow vertically made from a striped sheet from the Season of Style DSP Stack. A smaller arrow lined with Cherry Cobbler cardstock was added to the center of the larger arrow.

From the Chalk Talk Stamp Set I stamped “happy BIG day” with Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink, die-cutting it with the corresponding die-cut from the set with the same name, Chalk Talk Framelits. The edges sponged with the Soft Suede Classic Ink and a small splash of color added with Daffodil Delight 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon.

Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon Finish

I’m really happy with the end result. Obviously I’m never going to be a plain, uncluttered card creator but there are worse things in life to be don’t you think!

My new colour kit has arrived…

and I have to say, I’m not disappointed as they are beautiful. Although I do tend to think something was lost in translation when it came to naming the colours as on the ink pad for Cherry Cobbler, in German I think it is,  it’s Chili. As for the Cajun Craze, once again it’s German I think, it’s called Terracotta, which describes them both perfectly. My apologies now should I use the international names mistakenly.

Anyways, I couldn’t wait to use the Crumb Cake (formally known as Kraft) ink pad as I so wanted to see what it looked like. To me it’s gorgeous, almost like a faded gold. I chose the largest stamp from the Elements of Style set to highlight the Crumb Cake. It did so beautifully… until I started water-colouring it. Sorry, I’ll endeavour to do a plain Crumb Cake tomorrow!

I’ve used the Cherry Cobbler card-stock and the Cherry Cobbler ink pad… love them!

That’s surprising considering what it did to her!
