Is it really time to “Deck the Halls”? (MFT #352)

Posted on

After being so focused on scrapbooking for the last four weeks, I’m really having trouble now starting anything else. Thank goodness for the card challenges. Here’s my take on the challenge from My Favorite Things #352.

With the Deck the Halls Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! having been sitting on my workbench for a couple of weeks it was a given to use it. With wood grain papers a current favourite of mine, this was the next obvious choice. Here’s the sketch from My Favorite Things.

Here’s hoping that with next week being a new month my mojo finally kicks in, giving me a jump-start on a project or two. Fingers-crossed!

Fast Geometrical Friday!

As you’ve no doubt guess by now, I have rainbows a LOT on mind of late so it will come as no surprise that when I working with the Geometrical Stamp Set earlier in the week I had a ponder how I could incorporate this set in rainbows.

This was my conclusion!

Each of the triangles has obviously been stamped and punched separately before being adhered with a Stampin’ dimensional, utilizing even the full triangle as leaves for my rainbow flower!

Happy with my scraps!

Yes, I do realize that might sound a trifle odd but if you are able to have somewhere to keep all your cardstock and DSP off-cuts, and also your “bits” of ribbon it’s well worth it. To cut into a full sheet of cardstock when all is required is a “bit”, well, it can bring tears to one’s eyes hence I keep everything as you never know!

Which brings me to this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.

Mojo320 Sketch

This is my take on the sketch. The base of Whisper White has been layered with Always Artichoke which I’ve randomly stamped in Always Artichoke Classic Ink a stamp from the set A Round Array this then has the smallest frame of silver foil. A scrap of Silver Glimmer Paper was added, followed by a collection of ribbons and a framed sentiment.

What I’ve done is with the help of some sticky strip, have stuck all my scraps of red ribbon onto a scrap of cardstock. Yes, even the cardstock is a scrap as it was the cardstock in with the pack of dimensionals that were just finished. Waste not want not!

The sentiment seemed to take on a life of its own as first off I simply embossed it in silver powder before punching it out with the Decorative Label Punch but I couldn’t stop there! I then embossed a second one to punch out the oval sentiment then adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. As it then happened I had some retired SU Decorative Labels sitting on my desk which framed the sentiment perfectly and voila!
