Flourishing Phrases

Posted on

After using the Flourishing Phrase Stamp Set for merely the sentiments last month, it seemed only appropriate to use the stamp set for an actual card or two. This is truly, truly a beautiful stamp set.

As you can see, your cards can be as simple as you want, or quite easily stepped up for something a little more intricate. Isn’t it interesting how colors can change the feel of a card so quickly?

The Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set is on page 18 of the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, with the coordinating Flourish Thinlets on page 217 and the Leaf Punch on page 211. LOVE this Leaf Punch, particularly with the Vellum on page 192!

Contact me today should you wish to order any of these products or anything else from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.

Beautiful Peacock (SAB)

Posted on

This week I’m working with the Level 1 choice from the current Sale-a-Bration 2018 catalog, the Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set.

This is my sparkling, girlie version of the peacock using the Turquoise Glimmer Paper cut into strips for a background that’s a little different.

For a slightly masculine feel, I heat-embossed a timber background with silver before adding the peacock in Night of Navy and Smoky Slate Classic Inks.

This is the Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set that is so versatile, containing 12 different stamps.

Sale-a-Bration concludes at the end of March, after which this set, along with all the other sets I’ve been highlighting the last two months will no longer be available so order soon for this, or any of the other freebies currently available during Sale-a-Bration 2018.

Hello Carnival Swirls (FMS307)

Posted on

Rearranging my “stash” is the equivalent of buying new stuff. Product that has inadvertently been pushed to the back is suddenly front and centre once again.

Such was the case with this Stampin’ Up! Cupcakes and Carousels DSP. It might be sooo last season but I love that grunge-feel it has about it as you can see below.

The Swirly Scribbles Die-Cuts are currently a favourite of mine. In this instance I’ve covered the die-cut with Crystal Effect to give it some depth and character. Plus I finally used the SAB2017 Delicate Details Stamp Set. Seriously, it’s just like having new stuff!

This card was created for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #307. I’m so, so grateful for the wonderful “kick-starts” they give me each week. This is their current sketch.

Slowly but surely I’m getting my groove back. This is fortunate since we are now in October – it’s almost Christmas! Have you all the supplies you need for your Christmas creations yet?

Butterfly Textures (Freshly Made Sketches 300)

Posted on

You know you have it bad when the first thing you think of on waking is “how can I tweak that card-front base to make it work“. And the really hilarious thing is that even the tweak was tweaked!😂

Immediately adhering the base is not something I would usually do and am really not sure what made me do this. It made things that much more difficult in the end. Here is my take on this week’s Freshly Made Sketches 300.

This is the original sketch from Freshly Made Sketches which was my inspiration.

With a little masking, some silver embossing, a strip of foil cut with thinlets, along with a thinlets butterfly “splashed inked” and blinged up and voila, done!

Fond Farewell… Colour #6

Posted on

Wow, where does the day go? Unbelievably we were at school nice and early this morning, and even with a chat to one teacher, a drop-off at another class room, and an exchange of library books, I will still down into the studio with my pot of coffee by 9am… man, I was impressed!

I was even more impressed with the fact that I was able to work right through until I needed to head back to school. I ticked off what I had to in the morning, then I needed a card and even this  I managed a head start on. I know, I know… shock horror, but wait there’s more. The biggest pot of soup in simmering on the stove whilst containers of curry and strog are sitting in the fridge, and Donald’s birthday cake is in the pantry. Oh, and we had chocolate muffins for supper.

But dang it, I fell asleep then before I could tell you about the Fond Farewell to Colour #6Taken with Teal. This is a very in your face colour but it is gorgeous. Just so happens I chose this colour with one of my cards last month for my Technique class which was water-colouring, sponging and reverse sponging. This card was water-colouring.

For the sponging and reverse sponging I did almost the same card so the full effect of these different techniques could be appreciated. Now, I don’t deny for a moment that in comparison to what else is out there, these cards are a tad simplistic but when I was designing the three of these cards I felt it better to focus on the actual technique rather then how evolved it all could become. This was left to the individual.

So on saying that… the sun rose

 … and the sun set…

As I said, it’s a very Asian feel!
