Celebrate Amazing You!

Posted on

This week my featured stamp set is another Tier 1 Sale-a-Bration set Amazing You, plus the corresponding Tier 2 Thinlet set Celebrate You. Both are fabulous on their own or used together.

For this card I used one of the backgrounds I’ve made with the Brusho Crystal Colours available in the Occasions Catalog along with the couple of stamps from the Amazing You stamp Set.

The sketch I used for this card is that latest one from Freshly Made Sketches – Freshly Made Sketches 319.

Hope you’re all enjoying both the new Occasions and Sale-a-Bration Catalogs as much as I certainly am.

Just when I thought I had my Studio all set-up, now I need to find more space for even more stamp sets… WAY MORE then I’d planned!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!

Hello Carnival Swirls (FMS307)

Posted on

Rearranging my “stash” is the equivalent of buying new stuff. Product that has inadvertently been pushed to the back is suddenly front and centre once again.

Such was the case with this Stampin’ Up! Cupcakes and Carousels DSP. It might be sooo last season but I love that grunge-feel it has about it as you can see below.

The Swirly Scribbles Die-Cuts are currently a favourite of mine. In this instance I’ve covered the die-cut with Crystal Effect to give it some depth and character. Plus I finally used the SAB2017 Delicate Details Stamp Set. Seriously, it’s just like having new stuff!

This card was created for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #307. I’m so, so grateful for the wonderful “kick-starts” they give me each week. This is their current sketch.

Slowly but surely I’m getting my groove back. This is fortunate since we are now in October – it’s almost Christmas! Have you all the supplies you need for your Christmas creations yet?

My Mother Trio!

Posted on

I trust everyone had a wonderful Easter, over-indulging in all that was on your table – turkey, ham, and let’s not forget the all-important chocolate, lol!

Now that Easter has been ticked off our lists, our focus shifts over to Mother’s Day which is rapidly approaching. Hence I chose today to use something out of the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog My Mother Stamp Set.

This first card I’ve wanted to do ever since I saw how beautiful Gold Foil and Rose Red Cardstock were together. It also reminded me that I must add Gold and Silver Foil to my order list before the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog expires the beginning of June!

My Mother - Rose Red - JIFThis next card is something along the lines that I originally planned to make for Valentine’s Day except I somehow forgot to do. Initially I hadn’t planned to have a small border of gold but on assembling the card felt it needed just a smidge more kick hence the gold under-layer!

My Mother - Gold Washi Tape - JIF

My last card in this set was more a challenge to use DSP as I have a bad habit of over-looking it when it comes to card design – can’t explain it, I simply do! The frustrating thing with this card is that the sketch took absolutely no time at all the other night but this afternoon it took HOURS. Not that you’d know by looking at the card but it’s a design that could be used for many occasions.

Chalk Talk Grunge!

On seeing this week’s Mojo Monday sketch, I knew there would be no hesitation on this one as I wanted to use Cajun Craze Cardstock as the background. To this was stamped Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Cajun Craze Classic Ink which I used to also sponge the edges.

When this color was first introduced to Stampin’ Up! I couldn’t get enough of it but hadn’t touched it again until today. Today I used it as not only the background for my card but for the shapes/accents as well!

Mojo 341 - Chalktalk Grunge - Cajun Craze - JIFThis is the sketch…

Mojo341SketchMatching colors with Cajun Craze Cardstock can sometimes be interesting but as you can see on this occasion I simply went with Champagne Glimmer Paper and Gold Foil which was run through the Dots Embossing Folder. The Gold Foil I also sponged with Gold Encore Ink.

The shapes/accents were Heat Embossed with Gold Embossing Powder – the square I stamped with Versamark the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set, the circle stamped with the Chalk Talk Stamp Set. The Gold Foil circle was cut with a Circle Framelit as I wanted only a HINT of a border, not a lot of gold.

Going for Gold!

Posted on

Today is Monday which means it’s Mojo Monday time, ready? Here is the sketch…

Mojo 340 SketchAnd here is my take on the sketch which certainly didn’t take me all week to find inspiration for this one. I was out of the starting blocks and running with it in no time at all thanks to the Washi Tape! My card base is Very Vanilla Cardstock with a layer of Primrose Petals Cardstock under the Gold Foil embossed with the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder.

Mojo 340 - Going for Gold - JIFThe gold Washi Tape or as it’s referred to in the Celebrate the Everyday Catty, Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape, was my inspiration for this card. The tape was taken with me to the crop hoping to finally use it, which I didn’t, but as soon as I saw today’s sketch I knew it could be used! Onto a piece of Vanilla Cardstock I arranged and rearranged the Washi Tape finishing it with a piece of Primrose Petals 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon.Mojo 340 - Going for Gold - Washi Tape -JIF

The 1¾” circle is Champagne Glimmer Paper, the 1¼” circle is Gingham Garden DSP, and the 1″ circle was punched from Primrose Petals Cardstock then stamped in Gold Metallic Encore with a stamp from the A Round Array Stamp Set. The banner, also in Primrose Petals Cardstock was sponged and stamped also in Gold Metallic Encore with a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set. A sentiment from the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set was heat embossed in gold.

FYI: The end of next month (May) will see the retirement of the 2012-2014 In-Colors of Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple (favorites of mine for Christmas, just sayin’), Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse and Primrose Petals. I know a few of you have already begun stocking piling these colors but it’s best to do this sooner rather than later, particularly if you require Ink Refills for your inks!

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!
