Migraine Monday, oops, MOJO MONDAY!

Posted on

Sorry. I woke Friday morning with a throbbing head which is still hurting today. So apart from a doctor’s appointment which was already scheduled for that day, then dropping off Boy Child at a party on Saturday, I’ve pretty much been both PJ and bed bound.

My head is still not 100% but I daresay that has something more to do today with the salmon smoking which took place in our kitchen last night. The salmon tastes divine but the smoke residue still lingering in the air is doing absolutely NOTHING for my head.

Anyways, enough of my pity-party. With Canadian Thanksgiving being celebrated next month this is my card for today’s Mojo Monday sketch.

Mojo361 - Mingle All The Way - JIF

There was just SO MUCH white space on this weeks sketch which didn’t help my head at all. This is the MOJO MONDAY sketch for today. As you can see, not much deviation from the original at ALL today on my part.

Mojo 361 Sketch!

Of late I’ve rediscovered Sahara Sand Cardstock so with this as base I added a pattern from the Trim the Tree DSP Stack in darker tones. Then added a much lighter pattern from the Moonlight DSP Stack. Some Pumpkin Pie Chevron Ribbon completing the base.

For my square on the right I went with a base of Early Espresso Cardstock with Tangelo Twist Cardstock on top of that. First I stamped, also in Tangelo Twist Classic Ink, two of the houses from the Holiday Home Stamp Set, then on top of that stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink a stamp from the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set. Finishing off the square with stamped leaves also from the Holiday Home Stamp Set.

Mojo361 - Mingle All The Way - Thanksgiving Happiness - JIF

With Thanksgiving in mind, I chose to stamp two of the feathers from the Four Feathers Stamp Set. The larger in Early Espresso Classic Ink on Early Espresso Cardstock, the smaller feather in Soft Suede Classic Ink on Soft Suede Cardstock. I then used the co-ordinating Feathers Framelits Dies to cut them. Sponging both with Crumb Cake Classic Ink before adhering.

You’re in shock aren’t you? Here it is lunch time and I’m already posting my version of this week’s Mojo Monday and what’s more, its tall and skinny. Yikes, never say never!Mojo 343 - Grunge Bermuda Bay - JIF

This is the sketch from Mojo Monday.

Mojo343SketchThe background was my inspiration for today’s card. This stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set is what I used on the cardstock of all my pages on my 2013 Scrapbook Albums. My scratch paper was awash with the most wonderful color burst where I’d stamped off the page.

Immediately I knew I wanted to recreate this and did so with Bermuda Bay, Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Inks stamped here and there on my background piece. Another stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set was stamped off in Coastal Cabana Classic Ink onto Coastal Cabana Cardstock. The sentiment from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set was also stamped in Coastal Cabana Classic Ink.

The Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock and Soft Suede Cardstock were both run through the Big Shot using the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder then both were sponged with Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink.

Mojo 343 - Grunge Bermuda Bay - Gorgeous Grunge - JIFFinding something other than flowers as an embellishment is always a challenge for me but thanks to the Simply Stars Stamp Set, you may have noticed I reach for that instead now. Add a little Linen Thread and viola!

The Open Sea on Sweet Sorbet!

Posted on

As I’ve mentioned MANY times before, having being born beautiful instead of rich (yes, I can laugh at myself – although these days it’s more jiggling than giggling) I tend to save EVERYTHING. Eventually it all becomes useful.

My size determiner is the usability of the products. Ribbon for example have to be long enough to either fit across a two-inch wide tag which thus in-turn makes it’s large enough to be used on the end of sentiment, tag or such.

Open Sea - Ribbon Scraps - JIF

For cardstock and DSP, my smallest punch is the determiner. Thus if I can put a scrap into a punch – I save it. Note the small punched circle on the tag above, seriously who wants to lose a sheet of fresh cardstock to that small-fry?!

As exemplified on the card below, the scrap doesn’t even have to fit the punch completely. Don’t you just love the Sahara Sand Cardstock which compliments this sheet of DSP from Sweet Sorbet perfectly?

Scrap-tastic Sale-a-BrationThis DSP is just one of the many delights which can be yours FREE during Sale-a-Bration 2014 when you spend $60 or more. EVERY $60 you spend you receive something FREE! It’s a Mojo Soho kind of Monday!

Posted on

Another Monday, another wonderful sketch from the very talented ladies over at the Mojo Monday Blog. This is this week’s sketch…

Mojo334Sketch

This is my take on the sketch and as you can see I have taken my masculine challenge very seriously this time, lol! 🙂 The card base is Very Vanilla Cardstock with Soho Subway DSP on the top section sponged in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. A strip of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the two cogs from the Clockworks Stamp Set stamped-off in Crumb Cake Classic Ink which was also sponged around the edges before being adhered to the card.

Mojo 334 -Soho Goose - JIFThe bottom section consists of the three colors of  Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Suede Card Stock which I glued to a piece of scratch paper then ran through the Big Shot with the Stripes Embossing Folder. This was all then finished off with three Very Vanilla Candy Dots.

Mojo 334 - monochrome embossed stripsInstead of a scalloped circle I chose to use a die from the Window Frames Collection first in the Early Espresso Cardstock then the smaller one in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto both of these die-cuts I used stamps from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. “You make me happy” was stamped over the entirety of the Very Vanilla Cardstock with one additional one stamped on another piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock which with Stampin’ Dimensionals was then placed in the middle of the other Very Vanilla Cardstock.

Mojo334 - close up tage and sentimentThree of Hubby’s Stripped Goose Feathers from his fly fishing was added as the final touch!

Fresh Print Mojo 333!

Posted on

After absolutely dreading today because of my extraordinarily long “to-do” list, imagine my utter dismay when at 2pm I found myself with the majority of chores completed thus able to begin today’s Mojo Sketch 333… WOW! This is the today Mojo Sketch 333.

Mojo 333 Sketch

For my card I began with a Whisper White Cardstock base, covering the entire front with a piece of DSP from the Spring Catty’s Fresh Print DSP Stack. I then added a strip of Pool Party Core’dinations Cardstock that I’d run through the Big Shot with, you guessed it, the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (I know, I know, I’m addicted!). To this was added a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock  with the corners rounded and the edges sponged.

Lacey Pool Party - Mojo 333 - JIF

A Tea Lace Paper Doily was spritzed with Early Espresso then sponged lightly with Pool Party Classic Ink and Crumb Cake Classic Ink before being glued over the Soft Suede Cardstock with 2-Way Glue Pen. Onto this was added a piece of cardstock which had two pieces of the 3/8″ Coastal Cabana Ruffle Stretch Trim adhered with Sticky Strip. Onto a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock I stamped a sentiment from the Spring Catty’s Perfect Pennants Stamp Set which was then circle punched, sponged and added to the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Sponged Doily, Ribbon Rossette and Round Sentiment- Mojo 333 - JIF

For the rosette I simply punched a 1″ Circle then with the ribbon, which already had the sticky strip attached, then beginning on the outer edge slowly wound the ribbon around into the center then finished it with a Large Rhinestone Basic Jewel.
