Moonlight Mojo!

MOJO MONDAY time and here is my interpretation of this week’s sketch!

Moonlight Mojo349

And this is the sketch from Mojo Monday

Mojo349SketchFor today sketch the Moonlight DSP Stack was my inspiration as my background, bottom strip and even that side of arrows on the left! The Everything Eleanor Stamp Set was perfect for filling in the rest. The flowers I particularly like, especially when highlighted with a little color using an Aqua Painter and some Basic Pearl Jewels!

The cardstock used, Blueberry Bliss and Hello Honey, are both from the new 2014-2016 In-Color collection. For the ribbon, although knowing what it was I was hoping to achieve, I’d have to admit it wasn’t my finest work (nor is the photography for that matter, lol!) yet is still effective on this card. By the way, this is the new Hello Honey 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon. Nice huh?

Where my week went…

Posted on

It’s official, I’m admitting defeat on this week – after having Boy Child home today with possible tonsillitis (which it isn’t as my poor neighbors can attest to now), then forgetting that with Easter just days away the refrigerator required restocking so there went the morning with grocery shopping and unpacking, and oh yes, the Easter Bunny had yet to shop, well… I gave up!

However, given the late hour I’m now able to post the card I spent Tuesday creating for a lovely lady who retired today from the project Darling Hubby is working on. I’m happy with the card but seriously, an entire day AND night… what the? Talk about bad head-space!

Happy Retirement dear lady!

Not sure why the colors are so muted in this photo, perhaps it has something to do with the fact it was almost midnight by the time I was happy with it all and took this photo.

The card base was Whisper White Cardstock with Wisteria Wonder Cardstock as the main layer, onto that went Silver Glimmer Paper to create a bright border around the Elegant Eggplant Cardstock onto which I added lime-green ribbon roses both above and below the DSP. The accessories were all pulled from “the stash”, lol. All hail the stash! 🙂

Don’t you just love how it can take OVER a full working day to complete just ONE card? Imagine if we charged cards per the hours we spent on them? Yea right, like THAT’S going to happen, lol!

Anyways, I best bid you all a good-night and wish you and your families all the most wonderful Easter Break however, and whichever, way you celebrate.

Oh, and have yourself an... Inkee Fiddling Day!

Fast Flourishes!!!

Posted on

This would HAVE to be hands-down one of the fastest cards I have made in a long LONG time but also one of the prettiest using a stamp from the Flowering Flourishes Stamp Set. Wouldn’t you agree?

Flowering Flourishes - Purple Frame - JIF Elegant Eggplant Cardstock has been used for the layer under the Whisper White Cardstock base onto which I stamped in Old Olive Classic Ink just the one stamp from Flowering Flourishes.

The small flowers are from just one of the fabulous “bundle & save” options currently available in Celebrating the Everyday Catty.  By purchasing the bundle consisting of the Petite Petals Stamp Set and the Petite Petals Punch you immediately save 15% and are secure in the knowledge you have a co-ordinating set. Too easy!

When stamping the flowers I would normally ink the stamp extraordinarily well then stamp it three times without re-inking the stamp, thus creating a monochromatic effect. On this occasion however I wasn’t myself and stamped in three different colors – Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, and Wisteria Wonder!

My original plan was to add Basic Pearls on all the “dots” of the flourish but once I’d added the flowers complete with a Basic Rhinestone in their centers the idea seemed mute. Perhaps next time?

Simple Stems Resisted!

Posted on

Guess what? I’m still playing with the Simple Stems Stamp Set so I hope you’ve ordered yours, lol! 🙂

For this card I actually wanted to achieve something “masculine” but by choosing Pacific Point instead of Midnight Muse I may not have achieved my objective completely. I chose just the one stamp to Clear Emboss then sponge over, which is known as the Resist Technique. The birthday sentiment came from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set.

Simple Stems - Happy Birthday - JIF

The Resist Technique is such an easy technique yet so effective. Plus it’s only now that I see the stamp I chose to heat emboss has a matching framelit, oh my, where IS my head at? Which by the way is from the Secret Garden Framelits Dies and can be found on this week’s Weekly Deals on sale!

Looking at this card “on the big screen” that flower could almost be mistaken for fireworks, cool!

Mojo Monday

Posted on

It would appear I left more than my jeans in Vancouver last week as my Mojo appears to have slipped under the hotel bed also I fear! 🙁

Here is this week’s Mojo Monday sketch which is Tall and Skinny – which is so NOT me. I’m finding this size so extremely difficult to work with. Hence the reason it’s now Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and I’m only just getting there…

Mojo 339 SketchI took one look at this on Monday after printing it off and put it straight back down again; Tuesday I did everything BUT look at it; Wednesday I spent the ENTIRE day alternating between looking at the sketch and looking at Robert Downey Jr (the latter seemingly holding my attention longer…) and then there’s today. This is what I finally came up with and have decided in future no matter what the title, I’m sticking with what I know best – short and squat, lol! Mojo339 - Fresh Prints - JIF

Originally I was going with Whisper White as my base but after three days when I FINALLY changed to the Natural Ivory Cardstock, all was better with the world. For the DSP I chose two from the Fresh Prints Stack, sponging them in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. For the embellishments I went with three Basic Metal Buttons from the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog finished with Linen Thread.

Mojo339 - Metal Buttons - JIFYou may or may not be able to see on the base of the card in VersaMark are Spiral Swirl Stamps to add texture to the base, carrying through with the circles from the bike.

Mojo339 - Sprial Swirls - JIFThe oval was swapped out for a Deco Label in Real Red Cardstock. The 2¾” circle is from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock but was first stamped in Crumb Cake Classic Ink with a stamp from the Postage Due Stamp Set. Both were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals with White Candy Dots completing the label after sponging.

Mojo339 - Hello Lovely - JIFFor the sentiment after stamping in Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink a stamp from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set, I cut it down, sponged it, then added it to a piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock cut slightly bigger and also sponged. The two triangles were cut from a scrap from the Fresh Prints DSP Stack.

Card Recipe
Cardstock: Natural Ivory, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Coastal Cabana
Stamp Sets: Spiral Swirls, Postage Due, {Hello, Lovely}
Classic Ink: Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana
DSP: Fresh Prints Stack
Framelits: Deco Labels, Circles
Punch: 3/16″ Corner
Embellishments: Naturals Candy Dots, Basic Metal Buttons, Linen Thread
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Big Shot, Stick Strip,
Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sponges, Stampin’ Scrub & Mist
