Mojo Monday

Posted on

It would appear I left more than my jeans in Vancouver last week as my Mojo appears to have slipped under the hotel bed also I fear! ๐Ÿ™

Here is this week’s Mojo Monday sketch which is Tall and Skinny – which is so NOT me. I’m finding this size so extremely difficult to work with. Hence the reason it’s now Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and I’m only just getting there…

Mojo 339 SketchI took one look at this on Monday after printing it off and put it straight back down again; Tuesday I did everything BUT look at it; Wednesday I spent the ENTIRE day alternating between looking at the sketch and looking at Robert Downey Jr (the latter seemingly holding my attention longer…) and then there’s today. This is what I finally came up with and have decided in future no matter what the title, I’m sticking with what I know best – short and squat, lol! Mojo339 - Fresh Prints - JIF

Originally I was going with Whisper White as my base but after three days when I FINALLY changed to the Natural Ivory Cardstock, all was better with the world. For the DSP I chose two from the Fresh Prints Stack, sponging them in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. For the embellishments I went with three Basic Metal Buttons from the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog finished with Linen Thread.

Mojo339 - Metal Buttons - JIFYou may or may not be able to see on the base of the card in VersaMark are Spiral Swirl Stamps to add texture to the base, carrying through with the circles from the bike.

Mojo339 - Sprial Swirls - JIFThe oval was swapped out for a Deco Label in Real Red Cardstock. The 2ยพ” circle is from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock but was first stamped in Crumb Cake Classic Ink with a stamp from the Postage Due Stamp Set. Both were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals with White Candy Dots completing the label after sponging.

Mojo339 - Hello Lovely - JIFFor the sentiment after stamping in Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink a stamp from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set, I cut it down, sponged it, then added it to a piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock cut slightly bigger and also sponged. The two triangles were cut from a scrap from the Fresh Prints DSP Stack.

Card Recipe
Cardstock: Natural Ivory, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Coastal Cabana
Stamp Sets: Spiral Swirls, Postage Due, {Hello, Lovely}
Classic Ink: Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana
DSP: Fresh Prints Stack
Framelits: Deco Labels, Circles
Punch: 3/16″ Corner
Embellishments: Naturals Candy Dots, Basic Metal Buttons, Linen Thread
Essentials: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Big Shot, Stick Strip,
Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sponges, Stampin’ Scrub & Mist

Springtime Hello

Posted on

From the Spring Catalog one of my favorite “go-to” sets would have to be the Springtime Hello Stamp Set. Seriously, it’s a tiny set but packs quite the delicate punch.

Even with Crumb Cake on the background of Whisper White Cardstock, this set is impressive. Although scanning my cards instead photographing them has done them no favors today, my apologies.

Springtime Hello - Crumb Cake - JIF

From something quite demur to something quite bold with the Bermuda Bay Cardstock, the Springtime Hello Stamp Set really works.

The Springtime Hello stamp set works beautifully also with the Sale-a-Bration Sweet Sorbet DSP and Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack as you can see.

Now don’t forget, we’re onto the final countdown for Sale-a-Bration 2014 so if there’s any items you need, now is a fabulous time to stock up as for EVERY $60 you spend, you get to choose something from the Sale-a-Bration 2014 Catalog.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

Flowering Flourishes in the Garden!

Posted on

You know it’s Monday when you see one of the wonderful sketches from Mojo Monday appearing in your in-box. This is today’s sketch..

Mojo 336 - what will YOUR card look like?

For something a little different this week I went with a square card – this is it.

Mojo 336 - Flowering Flourishes in the Garden - JIF

This piece of DSP had been sitting on my table all week so decided today would be the perfect opportunity to utilize it. My base card was Very Vanilla Cardstock, onto this went Early Espresso Cardstock which had been stamped with Flowering Flourishes in Versamark then sponged in Early Espresso Classic Ink.ย  The Soho Subway DSP edges were sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink before lengths of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim was added then adhered to the Early Espresso Cardstock.

Mojo 336 - Flowering Flourishes - stamping

Instead of two circles I chose to do one of the Deco Labels Framelits in Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock which I sponged in Soft Suede Classic Ink. To this I added a 2-ยพ” Circle cut from the Circle Framelits in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto this I stamped-off one of the Flowering Flourishes stamps in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. The sentiment from Sassy Salutations was stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink and in hindsight should have been placed more to the top instead of being centered. Oh well. At the time though I wasn’t going to add flowers!

From the Secret Garden Framelits in Pistachio Pudding Core’dinations four stems of leaves were cut and sponged VERY lightly with Crumb Cake Classic Ink. Onto this was added a single Flower Shop stamp in Crumb Cake Classic Ink onto Crumb Cake Cardstock then punched with the Pansy Punch. A Large Pearl Basic Jewel was added to the center of the flower.

It’s a Mojo Soho kind of Monday!

Another Monday, another wonderful sketch from the very talented ladies over at the Mojo Monday Blog. This is this week’s sketch…

Mojo334Sketch

This is my take on the sketch and as you can see I have taken my masculine challenge very seriously this time, lol! ๐Ÿ™‚ The card base is Very Vanilla Cardstock with Soho Subway DSP on the top section sponged in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. A strip of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the two cogs from the Clockworks Stamp Set stamped-off in Crumb Cake Classic Ink which was also sponged around the edges before being adhered to the card.

Mojo 334 -Soho Goose - JIFThe bottom section consists of the three colors ofย  Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Suede Card Stock which I glued to a piece of scratch paper then ran through the Big Shot with the Stripes Embossing Folder. This was all then finished off with three Very Vanilla Candy Dots.

Mojo 334 - monochrome embossed stripsInstead of a scalloped circle I chose to use a die from the Window Frames Collection first in the Early Espresso Cardstock then the smaller one in Very Vanilla Cardstock. Onto both of these die-cuts I used stamps from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set in Crumb Cake Classic Ink. “You make me happy” was stamped over the entirety of the Very Vanilla Cardstock with one additional one stamped on another piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock which with Stampin’ Dimensionals was then placed in the middle of the other Very Vanilla Cardstock.

Mojo334 - close up tage and sentimentThree of Hubby’s Stripped Goose Feathers from his fly fishing was added as the final touch!

CARD RECIPE
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar,
Soft Suede, Crumb Cake

I was SOOOOO close!!!

Posted on

Wow, I was this close, this close to having this card completed and posted last night until I remembered why I didn’t use the glue I had used last night very much anymore, choosing instead to always use sticky strip. It was of course the drying time, ugh! It all came back to me like a charging bull. ๐Ÿ™

Anyways, one thing has led to another and here it is, NOT even first thing this morning rather late at night but regardless, here I am finally posting it. The basis of my card is this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch 323.

Mojo 323 Sketch

This is my card but I should warn you first not EVERYTHING is Stampin’ Up! PLUS I’ve utilized a couple of retired DSPs. On this occasion I’ve gone with the “feel”, not the product so I hope you can forgive me. (And it’s for my mother’s birthday next month!)

Mojo323 - JIF - Happy Birthday Enjoy!

The striped paper I’ve used is from last year’s SU Regals Designer Series Paper Stack which I’ve stamped Flowering Flourishes in that wonderful Illuminate Ink, both from this year’s Annual Catalog. Then I’ve replaced the thread over the DSP shown on the Mojo Sketch with strings of pearls sprouting from either end of the labels which have had the edges sponged in Crumb Cake.

Both of these labels have been cut from the same sized frame-lit, the difference being the Pink Pirouette cardstock was then cut in half so there would be a little showing on either end with the pointed middles snipped off.

The flowers were bought months and months ago from the local Dollar Store, and the light-bulb, well… that was the result of some late night shopping following a scrapbooking crop… need I say more. ๐Ÿ™‚Mojo323 - JIF - Enjoy

ย Of course it’s only now as I look at the card I realize the weight I’ve put in it isn’t the best for posting, lol!

CARD RECIPE
Cardstock: Rose Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
Ink: Illuminate, Crumb Cake, Versamark
Stamp Sets: Flowering Flourishes, Sassy Salutations
DSP: Retired Stock
Big Shot: Labels Collection
Embossing Powder: White
Embellishments: Pearl Basic Jewels
Essentials: Paper Cutter, Paper Snips, Sticky Strip, Heat Gun,
Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Sponges
Other Suppliers: Pearl Strings, Light Bulb
